So try to keep your units spread out and get them into melee asap.
Dreadquake mortars don't really do much against single entity, or monster units. So if possible, try move those kinds of units up in front so they get shot at. Dreadquake has pretty low ammo, so all those wasted shots will hurt it a lot.
If at all possible try get an armor piercing gun/bow unit in range to shoot it, they will die fast.

That said, my personal opinion is that they have strong artillery (Perhaps with the exception of the Death Shriek Rocket, need to use it more to be certain), but not too strong.
The Dreadquake Mortar is exceptionally good at damaging infantry but I feel its actually pretty ineffective against most other things, plus its accuracy is fairly poor so you may also get slightly more misses than usual.
While I've admittedly not used the Death Shriek Rocket Launcher so much but it certainly didn't feel that powerful in the few times I did.
One final thing that's worth mentioning is that since they are also single entities its fairly easy to focus fire then down if the opportunity presents itself. Which I feel is part of the reason why they don't do so well when matched up against other artillery units.
Take a look at poison wind mortars and reconsider your opinion of Chaos Dwarf Artillery.
Those are not artillery though.
this is an absolute nightmare everytime. they will just be firing away then i look back and they are a solid 100 feet away from my front line lmao.
but imo ya their arty is strong but thats kinda their thing is big beefy war machines so fair nuff.
the rockets seem good early on imo they arent as bad as everyone says just micromanage their shots for the best shot cause they will shoot guys way off by theirselves when they do better in big blobs or if they are in a line
the cannons seem kinda strong cause they seem like they have a higher firing arc than the other cannons so they can actually shoot over people.
dreadquake cannons are really really strong but their accuracy gets absolutely horrendous the closer they get. 9/10 times they will just nuke your own units if the enemy gets close enough and your not paying attention.
so id say imo they are decently balanced with the dreadquake maybe doing slightly too much damage but that is their end game arty so again fair. the skaven have a literal nuke after all.
but i havent played chorf against every single faction so i cant say 100%. just my experience
