Open 40K Lore Question, why are Humans the only ones who work for Chaos Gods?
Open 40K Lore Question, why are Humans the only ones who work for Chaos Gods?

While in "medieval" setting, each faction has kind of own version of gods. In 40K beside the 4 big ones, only Eldar and orcs have own. It's kind of add, that only from sentient races only humans work in 40K for chaos?

There were many species who worshipped chaos, pretty much all chaos relics have xenos origin.

They were all just purged when daddy went crusadin with the bois.

The Dark Eldar literally work for Chaos God Slaanesh, who was birthed by the Eldar before humans even went interstellar.

And the humans in 40K do have their own 'god', the emperor. One can argue he isn't really a god, but the same could be said of most of the Warhammer (not 40K) non-chaos gods back in the editions I used to play (5-7), including Sigmar (there was even a whole plot where a chosen one rose who may or may not have been a reincarnation of Sigmar, saved the Empire and was then conveniently assassinated by Skaven before he could plunge the Empire into a religious war over whether he was genuine or not.)

Warhammer (not 40K) non-chaos gods intervening actively and definitely existing was a newer thing (I'd blame End Times, but the total warhammer games don't do End Times content yet still have Ursun literally manifest in 3, and the horned rat in 2, so the gods must have been changed earlier than end times. I guess sometime after 7th edition)

Being chaos incarnate, the chaos gods aren't very good at keeping their worshippers alive, including on a species-wide scale... Humans are just so prolific and varied we're hard to wipe out.

Why would they want to wipe humans out and starve themselves? That's not how chaos works, never has. They want death and destruction, not a purge.

There were many chaos aligned xenos races who existed eons before humans invented space travel. They want humans to be a garden, not a graveyard.

The reason the Emperor went purging was because he was trying to starve Chaos.

I didn't say they wanted to wipe out races. I said they weren't very good at avoiding it.

Can you blame them after all the things normal humans have to deal with in the 40k world?

So wouldn't it be easier to simply weaponize the chaos gods?

Chaos does do very incredible things, like give armies of powerful monsters to aid you in battle or does even maintain your tech, like all the Space ships ,Mechs and chaos marines. Not to mention how fast it does move stuff in space.

It's very odd why by so many races, nobody except the Chaos Marines had the idea, well, let's use that all gifts, all you have to do is be yourself, if you love weapons, you never run out of ammo, read books and you get magic, don't wash your hands and you are immortal, be lazy and you get anything you want.

But doesnt chaos like keep all those Chaos marines alive,
even bring them back from the dead?

Because anything not human(and many more species that were divergent of humanity) that couldn’t defend itself(unlike species that barely did survive like eldar, orks, and sleepy necrons, really about it as nids werent around yet and tau, I dunno tbh, don’t hear about them much during horus heresy novels) was wiped out during the golden crusade by humanity right before the horus heresy.

Emperor systemically did this to deny chaos any additional fodder, obviously not intending for the heresy to occur the entire time.

Thinking of it, a whip would probably be a completely useless battlefield weapon when everyone is squished together and stand within a meter from the closest enemy. You'll never get the space needed to swing those things.

Not really. They might bring a particular champion back from the dead for reasons (assuming said champions soul is still intact. They could, for example, not bring Horus back since the emperor destroyed his soul). But its hardly the norm (they aren't the most forgiving bunch, if you fail doing what they ask and die its more likely that your soul will be tortured for eternity).

The only chaos god known for making most of its followers harder to kill is Nurgle. For the others its more natural selection (The gain somewhat random mutations/blessings, only the strongest and toughest tend to survive for long). That said even Nurgle may make some of his followers instantly rot to death on a whim (perhaps as a trigger for a new interesting plague).

And the chaos gods fight each other way more then they would even fight the imperium of man (Their "great game" where they fight each other is the most important thing for them in existence, the imperium of man and even the emperor is more of a after thought). Even followers that worship the same god betray each other constantly for reasons (power, etc).

Because humans are the most vunerable to the influence of chaos. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥ conditions the imperium enforces on its people make things like chaos have easy picking at willing agents. If you're live is already ♥♥♥♥ every day taking the pain away is a tempting offer even if you have to kill a few people along the way. The only other species that comes close to that vunerability are the orks. And those are so short lived and small minded they don't get the chance to fall very often.

Why is this in this forum, there are many many other 40k forums this could be answered in. Go there.

Its mostly as others have said, that humans are the most numerous species in the galaxy and generally don't have any inherent to chaos. As for the other major ones, the Tau, Tyranids and Necrons seem to be on some level immune the effects of the Warp. Although the Hive Mind controlling the Tyranids itself does have a very powerful presence in the Warp, but its not in any way connected to or vulnerable to any of the chaos gods.

Although all of the Eldar can potentially be affected by Chaos they are all so deeply afraid of Slannesh and I wouldn't in any way say either Dark or Goody two shoes Eldar actively worship him (possibly with the exeption of a few nut jobs).

While Orks are just too simple minded to feel its effects and already linked with their own gods Gork and Mork.

The Tau were banging rocks together and huddling around campfires few thousand years ago. Human encountered them, marked the planet for purging but kinda never got around to it. The next time they met they shot back.
