it should take a turn or two to sack/raze.
had an army go around my main army and sack three of my cities and i literally chased em for like 8 turns because they would sack ... and move to the next one and i could never catch up.

even with a minor defense force it should take a turn to sack/raze a city. to stop this.

Or recruit a defensive army as and when needed. RoRs are perfect for that.

CIV5 had a great system. Raze 1 tier per turn. Wouldn't be good for settlements tho, they should be an easy raze.

Same problem with attrition during a siege. If it takes too much time to trigger its effects nobody will use them anymore.

Stack campaign movement buffs and use ambush stance a lot, you're far more likely to catch such armies with those two. That said getting a town sacked or razed is not a disaster, as it usually only happens to settlements that are poorly developed and don't have maxed out defences.

A single lord sitting in a settlement can help catch such annoyances, they start the battle with your main army reinforcing (in march stance if necessary).

You have to remember a lot of factions can get bonus movement after winning a battle or razing a settlement, from skills or techs, it's why your having trouble catching them.

You need to raise a second force ahead of the invading army to either bolster the garrison of a valuable settlement in their path or go out and defeat them or slow them down for your main army to destroy.

Or if you have a high enough hero in the area, you can use it to block the army's movement and slow them down for your main force to catch up.

It sounds like combination of you not building defensive building in each town and not having secondary trash army to defend with. If you got both you can generally defend even against decked out main army of AI.

To add to the others, there are buildings for some razes that give you movement range in that territory or take movement range from the enemy, so that is something you could use.

You can also use some building or commandment that give movement penalty to enemy armies in your territories.

all these are fine but that still doesn't solve the problem that razing/sacking should not be an instant thing and then you move on. i know its not based in reality and I hate to bring "realistic" into a game with magic and dragons and stuff but it should still not be the instant you win the fight you get everything and can move on immediately.

Eh all time passage in this game is an abstraction. I don't necessarily think it should take as long to quickly loot or set a settlement on fire as it does to move between two cities. Just my opinion but unless this is modable I don't see it being adjusted in this game.

Razing takes all movement for most factions already, unless they get some special stuff.

I can see reasons for both, keeping sacking as is and taking the rest of your armies turn. Although they might would have to increase sacking income if they'd make it take longer.

So you want to change the mech of three factions and every Khorne Lord in the game to make the game easier for you? Just use a mod, I'm sure there is one.

not make it easier, make it more sensible. CA should develop proper AI or at least some AI, when strategy colossus carrying their name over 20 years. And certainly not in a way, that only thing AI can properly do is harrasingand baiting. Do we play Warhammer guerilla tactics or total war? Its laughable , how their AI is like stupid calculator working on bad formula but this, THIS knows perfectly. How to outrun someone by 1% to not catch them. Pitty they weren't so much precise to learn them better and more other thing.

But sure, let Khorne and Taurox have that as exclusivity. Don't see reason to have that with anyone else. fighting isn't thing, after which energy of all kind( translation for fantasy game) would remain stockpilled fresh as at " morning"
