Game doesn't save

I was playing IE and had a crash after 6 turns no biggie but then I found out it only had my saves from turn 1. Alright had a crash so no biggie, but after playing a couple turns I noticed I still/again only had turn 1 saves even though I specifically made sure to save my game several times, both normal saves and quick saves. Is this a known bug and/or does anyone know a fix for this?

I don't know if CA considers it to be a bug since the game has been doing that for years now. I also find it to be an extremely terrible feature though.

Try to turn off cloud saves, check if your steam save area and/or disk drive is full, and double check your save options. It doesn't sound like a familiar bug.

Sorry to necro this thread. I have a persistent problem where turns are being lost. I save the game at the end of my play session. I return the next day and I've lost the last turn I just did, despite saving? That's manual saves, and I continue the game from the main menu (continue campaign button).

Any ideas? Is this a known bug?

Sounds like your 'continue' button continues the last autosave, not manual save. Just load manually and see if that fixes it.

Ah ok, will try thanks! (It's not obvious that continue campaign should do so from autosave, that sounds dumb from an intuitive way imo).

Well, of course. But then, the game does that normally. Why it doesn't in your case I do not know. It may be mods, putting punctuation marks in the name, write permissions, or an autosave after your manual save, problem with cloud saves, something.

I'm just using vanilla game with dlcs (no mods installed at all). I have cloud saves enabled, could it be that?

'cloud saves enabled' alone wouldn't do that, but I find cluod saves to be a huge annoyance as long as I only play on one PC anyway. Still, at this stage either live with doing manual loads or contact support to find out what other options you have.

It's still doing it even if I turn off Cloud saves. I have to save TWICE to get it to retain a saved game. I have to verify each and every time I save that the save file exists.... Anyone else see this problem? It's extremely annoying as I effectively lose 1 turns progress every time I save and quit the game...

Jeah that is what I had as well. I uninstalled, then when i reinstalled 3 months later it somehow got fixed.

Except Ironman is not selected. I can manual save, just takes me twice to do so

I might have in idea why it's not saving. My cloud storage might be full, I may need to just delete all cloud saves. I'm probably saved lots of bad campaigns over the years, so it could be that

I had this problem for a long time and the thing that caused it was my game and steam being installed on different drives. Once they were both installed on the same drive I never had this problem again.

I had this happen just now, and it was happening even when I save and it looks like everything is fine. But then when I go back to load even just to check it would be gone. I noticed that cloud saves was checked and it actually said somewhere cloud storage 0% or somthing like that. So I unchecked cloud save and saved and it worked. I've had autosave every turn and keep them all turned on for a while lol. I am not sure how to clean up my cloud saves though, I would wanna just go delete a bunch of earlier autosaves in a bunch of campaigns.
