This is utterly atrocious. I only got back into the game after 4.0 because of the achievements, how the hell are they requiring us to attack 272 settlements... I stop a little after short victory. After this point the game becomes a slog, multiple samey battles on the same turn, dozens of stacks... just boring
This was the exact feeling I had.
How long do Long victories usually take anyways?
One definition of achievement: a thing done successfully with effort, skill, or courage.
By the way you can set the end-game crisis to trigger before turn 100, defeating that also unlocks the achievement.
When I want to quickly check new things I usually stop around short victory, maybe before that. I would be fine with not getting achievement for that, but I wouldn't oppose getting it either
Current Gen of gamers would have never made it through the 80s and 90s.
Besides the endgmae crisis, how is autoresolving 272 settlements considererd skill or any sort of effort ?
Lategame in TWW is probably the most boring ♥♥♥♥ in the entire game, especially if you have to fight for example the dwarf with 100+ settlements, autoresolving through his 20+ full stacks.
80s/90s games and early 2000 games were actually fun and difficult and required skill or effort to achive anything, be it just the last level on X game.
None of that applies to TWW lategame. The AI is too retarded to be of any real threat for a half decent player and atleast you'd lose some random units while autoresolving compared to annihilating the AI army with basically 0 loses.
Good thing you can customize which endgame you get to make it a little easier (I hate the Dwarfs endgame)
