Chaos Archaon - Settlement question

Hey guys.
I just started my first ever Chaos campaign as Archaon.

So i captured a Capitol and vassalized it because that was the only occupy option.
Now when i go to capture smaller towns i can either take for myself or gift to vassal.
What is the optimal solution here?
I am a bit confused how it works.
I can even build buildings in my vassal capitol.

can someone give me a quick explanation on how Chaos economy works?

Chaos warriors can't really develop non dark fortress lands, so giving it to a vassal is better overall.

And on that note your economy is heavy on the dark fortresses- they made a lot of gold so get as many as possible. Later a lot of your econ will come from your many powerful vassals.

So with Warriors of chaos factions you only want to take dark fortress which are labeled by a little yellow castle lookin icon by the climate icon on your main settlement. But yeah only certains ones will have this oh and also take any settlements with resources on it sense those give you bonuses but other then that gift everything that isn't a dark fortress or a resource settlement to your vassel

okay but do i gift them the small towns as well?

Since I can develop the capitols of my vassal i dont see what is the difference and im unclear what to do

But I cant take a dark fortress. Literally the first town i took was a dark fortress and I only had the option to vassalize it.

Take them for yourself then trade the settlement to your vassal for money

Yes. You can even sell the towns to them.

Just to be totally clear: As WoC all you gotta do is take as many dark fortresses as possible, (build the econ building in them,) and give everything else to your vassals. They're an extremely forgiving faction to play.

You vassal the tribe within the zone of the fortress. There should be a little picture next to the settlement name to show the tribes, take every fortress you can get for yourself and give the rest to your vassal. If the tribe has been wiped out you can bring them back by gifting the settlement to them after a fight.

Oh and hire and level up lots of marauders asap. Try your best to not yeet them in an autoresolve, upgrading them to warriors and then chosen is very, very worth it.

Okay, i will say this one more time.

I conqured a Dark Fortress and the game simply did not give me the option to capture for myself.
Its straight up Vassalize.

I also just went and beat The Howling Citadel.
i razed it to see if I will have the option next turn and it still only had Occupy and Vassalize.
Now some guys "TONG"owns it.

Yes "occupy and vassalize" means move in and vassalize the surrounding tribe, like Dan said.

And why should I not just keep everything for myself? o.O

Does the Ai give me more benefits.
This sounds so counter intuitive to me.

Ey np.

It's because other factions can develop those minor settlements, (and major non dark fortress settlements.) Whereas WoC can basically only make one tier 1 building in anything that's not a DF.
