"Shadows of Change" DLC out of stock at Humble Bundle after preorder?
I bit the bullet two days ago and bought the preorder of "Shadows of Change" via Humble Bundle (Steam key). I now see it's 'launched' and I go and collect my Steam key.... They've run out of Steam keys... WTF! How can you run out of DIGITAL Steam keys on a preorder!?!?

A few folks that seem particularly active here in the review section wanted to boycot this DLC. It seems they failed... But Sega/CA are doing way more damage to themselves then a boycot ever did! Considering cancelling my preorder, because if you can't deliver a DIGITAL Steam key on launch date, why bother at all? I can wait till it's heavily discounted.

Sure, it's Humble Bundle, but Sega/CA sell through there, I seriously doubt that Humble Bundle 'buys' they keys they stock, they are provided and pay the seller a percentage of every unit sold. This is not a traditional producer vs store relationship where you blame the store for not buying enough. You blame the producer for not providing enough!

I'm pretty much against preordering products, THIS is one of the reasons why. The reason why I do it with TW: Warhammer (DLC) is because I know I will buy it anyway, even if it sucks. Sorry, a 30 year WFB fan! Sure, call me inconsistent...

The last time this happened was with one of the actual Bundles and it took weeks before they had keys back in stock...

Clearly they have to order a set number of keys from the publisher.
It's not the first time this has happened, but I'm not sure if it was for TotalWar too.

Why are you pre-ordering video games in the first place?
Junker-2047- Aug 31, 2023 @ 11:29am
They probably dumped all of their keys when they saw how poorly it was going to sell. You can cancel and order elsewhere. Some places have it for 18% off. Personally, I'm going to wait for at least 50% off.

because he chose to?

Well, it is 9th global top seller atm so I guess all the drama did very little. At least it's not in top 5.

Wouldn't think so. Given that it's at Mostly Negative, 25% I suspect a lot of people are buying it just to leave a negative review and then refunding.

Simply put: Normally I don't but with TW: Warhammer (DLC) I know i'll add it to my collection sooner or later, no matter how bad it is. Is it still stupid? Probably... ;)

With my Humble Choice subscription, it was 28% off.

We can only hope.

Nope, they are not. Most of the negative reviews are on the TW:WH3 page, most people doing the reviewbombing have that game for way too long to refund. ALL of the written reviews for this DLC do NOT have the 'product refunded' label. There are also only a couple of hundred reviews, only a few dozen have actually written a review.

Imho the reviewbombers are way too lazy and are reviewbombing the main TW:WH3 page, in the hope they can do the most damage there. Loud people, from the comfort of their own armchair (reporting for duty general!), tend to be lazy...

So from what I can gather, those numbers actually represent a very successful DLC. It isn't that weird. Sure €25 is expensive DLC when you compare it to most other TW:WH DLC. I won't rehash the current economic climate and how different it was compared to the €19 DLC from almost 5 years ago... But if you are a Warhammer miniatures player, complaining about a €25 expansion that has three new factions, a bunch of new heroes, 11 new units and 9 new Regiments of Renown will get you laughed out of the room! They'll point at their most recent army book, that's €45, we need to replace that every 3 years or we can't play with other players, per faction! Then we need minis... See that single plastic human sized character model over there? That's €32,50! Do you know how much an army costs? Probably as much as your entire game PC!

TW:WH3 (DLC) is cheap if you're used to GW pricing! It looks like most of the complainers aren't used to GW... And price rises are also GW bread and butter! 30 years ago you bought a box of 30 plastic Space Marines for 10GBP, now you pay 40GBP for 20 Space Marines, if you're lucky! Chances are that you pay 30GBP for 10...

True. Bugatti are a pretty expensive car brand as well. Maybe VW should start pricing their family cars around the same price just to make it similar, you know. People will get used to it.
