Kislev and their lack of an economy.

I am trying to play through as Katerina, I can't seem to field more than two armies because the Kislev factions lack the money to be able to do this. So by turn 70 I am now trying to defend a huge swath of land with just two armies.

I own Eringrad but this hasn't helped my economy (the preacher guy got owned very early on by Azaeal). And now Praag but still only getting 500 gold per turn from trade and buildings. With two armies struggling to field more than Tier 2 units makes Kislev one of the most frustrating factions to play as.

Kislev economy is broken.

Kislev economy gets really strong as you go wide, they get faction wide stacking bonuses from almost if not every resource. The three major settlements also can pump out a stupid amount of income while also giving you more stacking faction wide boosts.

Their base buildings have relatively low numbers because with a combo of resources, landmarks, and the big city markets, it is not terribly hard to seriously boost those numbers.

It's all about getting the major cities and getting all the little buffs to trade and income.

My last Katarin campaign on VH after 3.0 I had 3 full stacks keeping the peace around Kislev around turn 50.

literal skill issue... read what their buildings do and adjust accordingly... upgrading the basic income building past tier 1 doesn't give good ROI? Then don't upgrade it past tier 1. Upgrading the minor settlements doesn't give good ROI? Focus on upgrading their major settlements.

It is pretty lore accurate for Kislev to be barely holding against Chaos. With Katarn, you want to rush Praag and Erengrad to get that better economy. In the meantime, you can go with Kossar cheapstacks alongside a better composition in Katering’s army. Kossars and Catarine are more than enough to secure the big cities well into midgame.

I don't understand why people are struggling with Kislev. They must be playing Kislev badly (i.e. THEY'RE NOT BUILDING ARMIES OF LIGHT WAR SLEDS).

Play Boris Ursus. He snowballs fast and his bears are pretty much unstoppable. Kislev is actually very strong.

Kislev's economy is ultrastrong. If you can't make it work then, get this, you are bad at the game and should strive to improve instead of demanding the already low skill ceiling be brought even lower.

Don't build churches and build eco buildings instead, then you should be fine.

Another yuz "you need to doomstack" take when you don't need to but okay. The game is boring when you play it the same 100% of the time

When you start : get province from quest, give it to Kislev faction to get peace then head south to get Sylvanas, by turn 4 you should wipe minor vampire factions, then recruit as many units as you can, basic cossack are enough. Wait for Carstein to declare war on some empire faction (8 turn on legendary diff), join empire faction, when Vlad is goofing far from his capital. Around 12 turn you should wipe vampires, and have super good province with gold mine far from waves of deamons.
This peace at turn 3 (recruit 2 units after capturing quest city) is also good idea, because you lose devotion while fighting Kislev faction and they can buy you some time shielding from Valkia.

if you play Immortal Empires, great idea is ofc take south oblast at start and then attack greenskins asap, take Karak Ungor province (gold) and secure this part of map via alliance with dwarves)

I started the campaign again. This time I tried a different route.
Took out Azhag first and then sold the province back to the dwarves, because they was on the verge of declaring war with me. Took out two Cathay caravans, which tied me over. Right up till -
Hell Pit demanded 2000 gold and Drycha, or they would declare war. So we went to war, a few turns latter Drycha was begging for peace. She didn't get it. I now own her woods.
Then the vampires wanted some gold, again the answer was no, and we went to war. I pushed them back to a single dwarven hold they have surrounded by Belthazar. I should of trespassed and took him out because he has now come back. I was hoping the AI Belthazar would finish him or the dwarves.

Azaeal is now at war with me after destroying the other Kislev factions. Economy is better than it was in the last few attempts even with Kislev city. I own Templehof, and Drakenwald with the gold mine. Starting to upgrade my troops in my two armies and think about a third to hold down my southern flank and finish off the vampires once and for all.

Managing to hold my northern flank and build up the provinces so I can push forward towards Enringrad and Praag.

I was having difficulty with Kislev because I am used to Cathay, and having a lot of gold coming in by turn 10. Also when someone mentioned "Markets" I went back and took a look at them, I had overlooked them for Churches and Growth. As it turns out I don't need Devotion anymore because Konstalian is dead.
