Sega and Strategy games.

So now that it's pretty obvious that senior management are taking us for a ride and trying to squeeze every penny out of us to fund toxic microtransaction ridden games for Children, like the awful looking Hyenas while potentially killing the best Warhammer Fantasy game every made, I thought I'd look at their recent spending spree into PC strategy games and what they have achieved.


Relic. After some awful decisions destroyed the Best Warhammer 40k series, Dawn of War. Turning a Grim Dark universe into some kind of Saturday morning cartoon for.... You got it money. Not content with destroying Dawn of War they then somehow turned Relic crap. With the not well received Company of Heroes 2 and the disliked Company of Heroes 3.

Result: Miserable failure.

- Creative Assembly. Not happy with just destroying the best 40k game series Sega moved onto Fantasy. My favourite universe. They turned a studio famous for their exceptional if buggy Total War franchise into a company whose decisions look like they were made by a moronic hedge fund manager who would sell his children for an increase in shareprice.

Result: Unclear at present, but have successfully alienated their core fan base, and reduced the resources of literally their biggest selling game, presumably for Hyenas or someother Live Service cash grab scam.

Amplitude Studios. The creaters of the Endless Space series arguably brought back the 4x genre into fashion. Amplitude produced good quality DLC and were constantly adding free content, creating a loyal and happy fanbase. Obviously SEGA could not accept that and so moved the entire team onto a Civilisation clone, now badly received, because money I guess.

Result: 2 DLCs were released at the end of Endless Space 2, both of which were bad and outsourced to an inferior studio. The last being so bad it made the game completely lacking in fun and broken and has an overwhelmingly negative rating on Steam. The promised fix patch was never released.

Save Total War from the Hedgehog. The Hedgehog only knows how to destroy
