what is the point of being able to trade territory?
i'm playing Empire, i'm making 70k per turn, have 350k gold and all i want is to buy 1 province from Kislev, i control 3/4 of the cities in the region yet she refuses to sell it to me, it's dejure empire land, i can't put an elector count in ostermark if i can't get that city. she's like -150 on the trade, i offer he the full 350k and she still refuses.

if i can't even buy 1 of my own dejure cities for 350k then wtf is the point? might as well not even have added it to the game, i'm forced to conquer her how.

It always helps to trade city for city THEN throw in the gold.

Way to go is trade settlements for settlements. Go out there, conquer some land you won't need and trade them for the city you need

So because a mechanic doesn't go your way 100% of the time you want it abolished?

Hey, do you know you can actually lose battles?

Whoa, did I just blow your mind or what?

The AI really values territory, it's why you can charge them absurd amounts of money for a settlement.

This is probably the way to do it. It's very likely they have a settlement near them held by norscans, rats, orgres, or WoC that they would love.

Just put the wench out of her misery. Kislev is just a pittfull low tier faction anyway.

You could potentially increase the diplo relation progressively by sending them gifts for a long period of time.
Eventually that will increase the chance them selling the settlement at some point.
But it can takes some time… and it’s not fully guaranteed either, it depends on quite a lot of things, such as later if you send them gifts and what’s the situation at that stage, etc.

The system isn't in the game so you can buy territory from factions for gold. It's so that you can trade settlements you don't want for settlements you do want.

because it helps with confederation and vassalization and simply just making a strong cpu ally. Ive seen it help in wood elf campaigns cuz you dont need em. Ive seen it done to confederate factions. Ive seen it help in vassalizing. It's just a bribe and a very strong one at that when its teritory you dont need or dont want to personally defend.

"i'm forced to conquer her Now."

Or, trade her a territory.
even with me offering her territory and all my money she still won't trade

Right... then come here and complain about anti player-bias.

Rinse-Repeat.

I give up.

It works wonderful gains in establishing Non-aggession pacts, potential allies, gold, or a spot you cant fully utilize when there's another faction occupying the capital... Sometimes it's best fornyour future to gain good diplomatic favor this way. It jumps really high gifting territory.

Yeah. Go find a city they would want and take it. Then trade it.
zefyris Aug 7, 2023 @ 1:12pm
It just depends on the AI's ability to protect and develop those territories, and of the level /importance of those towns at the moment you trade them. You can often buy tier 0 cities for peanuts, for example. In one campaign I bought like 20+ territories from allies in only a few turns and it didn't cost me a lot for most of them. I had like half of the RoC Cathay part and bought almost entirely the other half.
