Total War: WARHAMMER III

Runemith - Sharpen weapons + Harden Armour + Scouting
Ok, I think I'm missing something here.
Runesmith Heroes have those two skills in the red line of their skilltree Sharpen weapons and Harden armour. In the Blue Line they have Scouting (for magical stuff). The description says I have to activate those skills in the redline, but they appear to be passive skills.
The Scouting skill on the blue line appears to be passive as well.
The strange thing is, that I can only activate one of those three skills when the Runesmith joins an army, which render the other 6 skill points I have invested in being somehat useless.
Can only one of these skills be active or must I do something specific to get all three to work?

Get multiple smiths and have one do each. I don't think you need to choose "scouting", that's just your base job. You only have to decide if you are going to buff weapons or armor when you have the skills, and neither overwrites scouting.

It would be a good QoL if instead of having to choose when the hero joins an army it was a toggle. You wouldn't have to make the hero leave and rejoin again to change its action passive.

Agreed, if they could turn skills into mounts in the database to allow a dropdown, but the return for investment to change the code for what is currently a small return. One hopes the next mega-iteration total war game will build in expandability for developments such as this.

Either that, or make the two skills exclusionary like some of the high-level general skills.

I know that, when I first join a runesmith to an army, when he is new lvl 1, it will only offer scouting, as you have not put a point into weap or armor buff.

When I do put a point to sharpen, I have the RS leave the army and rejoin, and choose sharpen weapon. Otherwise, how would it know which buff to run, would it not just cointinue scouting?

And no, I don't think you can scout and sharpen at the same time, why would that be? You choose scouting, just like you choose weap or armor buff. I don't think you can have any 2 of the buffs active at once.

Bottom line, do not put points into both armor and weap buffs, for sure they don't both work at once.

Some here seem to think you can have some base scouting active while in sharpen buff? I need to see that, I will test.

I always thought they'd apply all their buffs - although heroes with multiple army effects aren't common.

I don't think so, otherwise, why make you choose?
Na, only 1 worlks at once, unless someone can prove me wrong, and even then i would ask the question, why make us choose when he joins an army, if they all work all the time.

They won't apply both. If you have an agent with both skills and you choose to put him in an army you have to choose which specific function that agent is going to perform on that army. It'll give you a choice if you want to buff armor or weapons or whatever. But yeah if you have two of them you can cover both.

you can check which effects are active on your army near the portrait in the lower left. When I had one Runesmith embedded in my army and put points in both Sharpen Weapons and Harden Armor, it showed both effects as being active.

Just loaded up an old save, and you're right...if you disengage the runesmith and send them back in, you choose among the three skills. The little lightbulbs next to the buff skills on their strategic map display shows what's active.

There is a thread on reddit that there is a bug where if you don't remove a runesmith and it eventually gets all three skills, they all remain active. That would take more testing than I have right now.

PS: Sarumoon, I'm not "some people". Feel free to call me out by name, you're not gonna hurt my feelings, and if I'm wrong, I admit it. :P

To be fair, I just said "Some here", it wasn't intended to be rude. I may have meant to type something like "Some were saying" meaning i'm too lazy to grab the quotes, when anyone can just scroll up. Anyway, sorry. Cheers!

And if this thing is another bug, yikes man, it's so hard to play this game right now, when everything you do, none of it means anything. Oh you want all 3 buffs? sure here you go...

fix the damn game.

Ok guys, thanks for the feedback.
Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks something is off here.
It would be nice to have that in your skill description if those skills are an either/or option.

It's more badly implemented, if it was a toggle everyone would understand you can only have one passive bonus active at a time.
