Do random Chaos armies appear in the Southern Wastes?
Howdy!

Playing as Oxyotl in the Southern Chaos Wastes.

I currently have an army stationed at the portal for Belakor, and nothing is coming through there. Oxyotl himself is off conquering Kairos' last settlement in the far east. And, I've tamped down every rebellion that's popped up.

So, why is there just random enemy marauder armies chillin' in my starting province? Undiscovered, because I can't see any of their soldiers. I guess the AI is too afraid to attack any of the garrisons? Even the minor settlements.

I didn't miss any settlements, I've stopped all the rebellions, and nobody is coming through the glowing portal.

So, do Chaos armies just spawn here?

Oxyotl's schtick is that he will get missions every so often, and failing to complete them on time (he can teleport his stack to them no matter where they are) has consequences. Some of those missions spawn armies that you need to kill, some target existing armies or settlements. These only happen if a player is helming the Ghosts of Pahuax. Playing another faction won't cause them, even if you get control of Oxyotl by confederating him.

Do you have a screenshot? Or the name of the faction the army belongs to?

The portal is just a mechanic for Bel'Akor's faction to fast travel around the world. But the AI rarely seem to utilise it.

one of his events is that chaos armies will spawn & raid until you defeat them

Oh, ♥♥♥♥. Really? I've just been trying to sweep East and worry about the missions after.

Whoops! Missed that part!

Thank you! I'll have to balance those better.

What's the number inside the mission marker? Is that how many turns they have left? Or the strength?

It's the number of turns left. Difficulty is rated as "easy", "medium", or "hard"
