So I was watching grim kleaper play nurgle
and I won't lie, it was one of the reasons i bought the game. They looked so darn fun, but nothing he did in the video works for me. The video was from feb 2022 and so i was wondering if there were any nerfs or significant changes to the game(like how the campaigns are completely different) or if im doing something wrong.

My swarms are smaller. i dont have the busted regen healing. and my army feels like paper even at 19/20. :(

Please help me understand how to be the benevolent grandpa nurgle <3

or if he was nerfed, where i can find a list of changes without going through 18 months of patch notes v.v

A lot changed since then. It isn't even a matter of direct nerfs (nurgle got more buffs than nerfs for sure), but the game is wildly different by now.

Back in feb 2022, Immortal Empires wasn't released yet, so he was definitely playing the Realm of Chaos campaign. Nurgle was designed with the RoC campaign in mind, and their IE start is quite bad for them, so if you're playing IE, you might want to try them on RoC.

Nurgle also isn't the easiest race to play. They can be a powerful faction, but it's a bit tricky to figure out their playstyle. Tip: Nurgle might look like it should be a defensive/tall race, but in WH3 it was designed to favor aggressive play, so play it like you're playing a slower Khorne. Sack/capture settlements non-stop.

Also worth mentioning that Nurgle will get a DLC and an update later this year, so the Nurgle you're playing now will be quite different in a few months.
basically what leandrombraz said, what I would add though is only really pump money into your initial province or capital settlements. Nurgle's buildings cost a lot early and so trying to put money into multiple places just isn't worth it especially when your garrisons are absolute garbage in IE.
if your swarms are smaller check the game options. your unit size might be not scaled up. most people play on ultra.
Nurgle is literally one of the hardest factions to play in the IE campaign. They buffed his campaign since that video by eliminating the Mortis Engine that Ghorst used to have. That was a huge problem because it used to melt your army and was kind of hard to catch and kill. All the other legendary lords added since also sort of change how his faction plays. At some point I assume we're getting one more big update which might actually revamp how nurgle plays or at least some of the units.
If you are playing the IE campaign then yes Nurgle can have a rough start if you are unfamiliar with the faction and the games mechanics.

Do you have Champions of Chaos DLC? if so, the Nurgle exalted heroes can be helpful to kickstart your campaign a bit. You can get 2 or 3 of these quite early if build the resource buildings (Wood, herbs etc, etc.) The exalted heroes can be put on horses, are very durable and can hit pretty hard, so are good to counter enemy threats.

After that you need to be sensible with your Army unit composition, units can be expensive you you wont want to be front loading with plaguebearers, i usually settle with around 8-10 Nurglings, 2 Plaguebearers, the 2 Marauders you can get at the start and then i will try and get 2 forsaken (1 hopefully the deamonspew ROR unit) The other remaining slots you can fill out will heroes and whatever other units such as furies, frogs, plague drones, beasties or whatever.... That should be enough for you to take on whatever you will come up against early game.

The forsaken i find particularly useful as they are good at blending Chaff, don't use them to counter enemy armour piercing or quality units unless you have no choice.

haha I actually tried playing defensive and got stomped so bad. I don't exactly know what im doing all that well, but i do know that being on the defensive means i already lost. <3 Ill look up khorne guides and see if i can emulate that style of play. for sure ty ty for letting know about how the game has drastically changed.

i honest just didnt know that wh2 was that different from wh3.

when you say initial provinces, how much should i do...like get tier 3 on the capital, the resource bonus building that looks like a flower and a new exalted hero?

ty for the army composition and the hero tip. i honestly never really looked into any heroes whatso ever. but that's mostly out of trying to not get overwhelmed. do you suggest getting an extra exalted hero for kugaths army or getting it for the second army early on?
