Do you guys bother with the blue lord skill tree
Its nice at first but in the end it just hinders your lord? Crastiad isnt going to be as giga as he could have been.

I almost always invest in blue right off the bat, unless I need a more fighty army and sink points into red.

Sometimes.
The extra movement range is always my first skill point, and some races need the replenishment, or benefit a lot from upkeep reduction, or better raiding.

Beelined for LS in WH2, not anymore, but I still always get Route Marcher at level 2 , and often go to LS later, after my Lord has good "other" skills (army buffs and either spells or combat buffs)

Lightning strike can pay dividends.

If I’m playing a faction that’s got to fight in corrupted territory a lot (like Karl Franz), I’ll get the attritional losses reduction skill. And generally the replenishment boost skill.
It’s nice to only need a turn or two to heal up your whole army.

Blue is what I always take first for LS and replenishment (if available) the rest depends what is at the end.

I always take the campaign movement. After that just depends on the army. Some factions really need the replenishment. And some get more sack income. I found lightning strike to be mandatory in game 2, but these days I don't usually take it.

Extra movement, lightling strike for all factions is good. And some factions really love the extra replenishment and upkeep reduction is a must for some factions with lower to mid economy and replenishment. Almost required not certainly never required. Generally chosen when I start actually so I can pick easier fights and have more gold to go around so I can speed up my economy and get that 2nd army going faster.

We'll see in a few years if factions that need the replenishment like Slaanesh get heroes that add to it to mitigate the need.

The WH3 factions are in dire need of more hero types, for sure.

The whole game is a race to lightning strike.

The only reason to not max it is if you want to make the game harder, as its a click fest right now. That I could understand.

Usually I don't invest on it, but depending on the race, it might have skills that are worth it.

Lightning Strike is a noob's trap, btw.

You mean "The Best" skill line (only beaten by unique line of some LL lords)?
Extra movement is a must, so is upkeep reduction (i always prefer to have more slightly weaker armies over less number of more slightly powerful ones. Your heroes can easily compensate for it).
For raiding factions, raiding income/sack settlement income is good.
In RoC campaign, attrition reduction is great too.
Lightening strike depends on your playstyle, but having a few lords with rank 3 LS as a backup(in inactive lords pool) is always good idea.
So from my perspective, blue line is what i would take first on 90% of lords first(exception being strong casters like vampire lords, then its magic firs, blue second). Only exception are the 2 Norscan lords you get from the maxed allegiance with chaos god, their blue line is bugged and instead of 4 points to unlock next part of the skill line, you need to spend 8.

I rarely use Lightning Strike. I'm more of an ambush stance guy when it comes to dealing with multiple enemy armies.

All the blue skill lines need a revamp and be standardized, everyone should get replenishement, discount on infantry, then - attrition, and ambush defense or success depending on faction, these should be leveled caped aswell, to stop the AI putting to much into one category.

control, and corruption which is on some lords should be reserved for hero's not in lord skills and be buffed then to compensate for the loss. control is largely pointless now as a blue skill.

The next lines of blues skills could just be merged into the first have then -upkeep, lightning strike , and all leveled capped to slow things down. The first special blue skill can be basically made into a special gold skill, if its like wound time and rep for lord moved to the top line, with the last special blue skill simply getting unlocked when you spend 15 points.

No, just no. It shouldn't be standardized.
