Why the new total war games are not fun to play any more ?
I think the last great total war game was Shogun 2.After that every total war game was getting worse ,and worse. The battles look boring , and there is not impact and no fun to play because of the health bar system. The campaign map looks boring ,and colorfule.and every turn takes a lot of time.Total new total war games looks more like Starcraft game , or mobile game , less like total war games. The biggest problem is health bar system , which makes battles boring to watch with no impact and physics. You just watch a good looking animations , but it does nothing to the battlefield.

They aren't fun for you. Clearly there's people that enjoy it.

Personally Total War games always looked boring to me, this is coming from someone who loves reading about history btw, the only ones that ever looked interesting enough has been the Warhammer ones.

The only historical one I've ever played was Shogun 2 cause they gave it away for free, but I didn't play it much cause I found it boring.

You talking about campaign map , or battles ?.I can understand that campaign map for some people might be really interesting , but the battles for sure look much worse in Warhammer games , compare to Shogun 2,Empire total war, or Medieval 2.

Shogun II along with Medieval II are overrated tripe. Rome 2 started putting the series on the right path but it just wasn't there yet.

I thought Attila was pretty much the right path.

OP, you are probably just burned out. After hundreds, or even thousands, of hours playing the same types of games, that is natural. Either find a different genre of computer games to play, or maybe give them up all together for a while. There is a place called "outside your house" where you can do fun things too you know.

I am so SICK TO DEATH of hearing about shogun 2!! Seriously, what spell dose that game have over people?! Its a good game no doubt about that, but saying its more interesting than warhammer is just insane. No total war has come close to offering the diversity and replayabilty that WH has. Rome 2 with all of its updates is a masterpiece, and Attila was incredable as well! Seriously I need answers! What is with this Shogun boner?!

Shogun 2 is a MASTERPIECE in every way.The battles look more realistic , because there is no health bar arcade system, and campaign map look beautiful and interesting.

Like I said, it was not there yet, but it definitely started doing some of the mechanics better such as changing the way provinces work. Attila was the next step which added something all Total Wars should have. The ability to just raze or sack towns without taking it so you aren't forced to expand when you are not ready.

The health bar is there, you just don’t see it because everyone (except generals and heroes) just has 1hp and it’s just a matter of whether they’re hit or not. A dance between two soldiers until one successfully rolls a hit is no less arcadey than two soldiers poking each other more than once until one dies (especially when this dance meant the rest of the unit would just stare at the two dancing models until one dies)

Both really, the campaign map portion of historical games never looked interesting and neither did the battles. Warhammer though has variety and even if many units work the same it's way more interesting than the historical games.

Maybe if the historical games had an interesting campaign layer with actual stuff to do and more variety in units where applicable, plus actually being able to have large scale battles and not a few thousand soldiers max, then maybe I'd find the historical TW's interesting.

I'd also probably find a Civ like Total War interesting and possibly buy it if it looked good. Something like where you can advance through the ages and where you could get left behind in technology, wealth, etc, to where you're basically powerless to a more advanced civilization/nation. Battles would be like Total War battles though.
