Best processor upgrade for this game?
Hey

I've got a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9600K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz

And it is not holding up well, any recommendations for a good CPU pick in terms of faster turn times and large scale battles?

My GPU is a 7900 XT

I play mostly RTS and strategy games

can personally vouch for this one running this game very well overall:

Anything in your budget.

There's a bookmark for WH3
https://youtu.be/B31PwSpClk8

Anything really will give you good fps.
Loading will pretty much be the same across chips.
ram speeds are a consideration (and pcie gen for nvme drives)

On a <$500 budget get a 5800X3D B550 board and 32GB 3200CL16
$700 get a 7700 B650 32GB 6000CL36
$800 7800X3D CPU instead of the 7700

What about 300?
What about in different regions?

Regardless of CPU or pc specis in general, if it's top end or not, the gmae will slow the hell down lategame, turns take alot longer. I'm running a 13900k and even that does not get the game into a quick turn phase lategame, anyone who tells you that the game runs smooth and super quick during turns very late game, is likely lying or found (probaly unintentionally) the right setup hardware or softwarewise.

I think on battles and general campaigning Intel 12thgen+ does perfectly fine, amd i dunno. Turns on the other hand will always go alot slower the later in the game you get

$300 get a 5500 + A520 16GB RAM
Can't give price for the whole world, OP didn't say where he lives this usually means he's in the US ^^

buy an external fan, point it at your computer with a glass of ice water in front of it, be at least 3 feet away. this should help if your cpu is overworking itself on your comp.

Thanks for feedback, It could ofc be the games I play that are just badly optimized..

In any case I've put togheter a wishlist right now consisting of:

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU (thanks for youtube link)
ASUS TUF Gaming X670E-PLUS WIFI Mobo
Kingston FURY Beast RGB DDR5 5600MHz 32GB

It's just theese demanding real time strategy games im "struggling" with and I assumed I needed a better processor..

I dunno if you guys have benchmarked your cpus in 3Dmark but mine is just getting rekt with frames as low as 5-8

I live in Norway btw

For what's it's worth I linked that vid because it shows the scaling across various chips.
7800x3d's are great chips but you can get a great experience with many others.

"I dunno if you guys have benchmarked your cpus in 3Dmark but mine is just getting rekt with frames as low as 5-8"

I have a 5600x if you want a comparison on a benchmark.
Which 3dmark did you run?

And don't forgot, it's not just the CPU that governs load times.
The drive you use and what software your running does too.

Hey I benchmarked via TimeSpy

CPU SCORE: 5255

I got 2.5 TB SSD games
500 GB Nvme games (most played) and system
1 TB HDD drive for downloads

There is nothing wrong with your processor, 4 cores 8 threads, the game is just unoptimized

Pffrrr no, it has badly aged, even a $100 5500 is way faster in gaming (and in mostly everything else as well)

well he is already decide to get a 3D Amd processor, oh well, it is his money

He's right to upgrade, he was hamstringing his 7900XT by 30-50% with a that poor CPU
intel is better for turn times

in fact I got the 9600k also, because of mortal empires back in the day

game runs fine on this and geforce 2060

Nvme ssd and overclocked ram

So I suspect OP is attempting 4k or something

Again you assume things.
