Ask me lore questions
Some few veterans may recall my thread in the very first game's forum, which was sadly recently closed after seven years of operation RIP May 17th 2017 - June 37 2023, it is time to re-open in this newer, more bustling locale.

This is exactly what it says on the tin. Any lore question you may have about Warhammer Fantasy - big or small, obvious or obscure - ask away and I will do my best to answer it (even the not-so-serious ones). Anybody is welcome here, veterans and newcomers alike, so long as they come in good faith.

FAQ:
Q: Is 40k and Fantasy the same universe?
A: No.

Q: What is the End Times and why did it happen?
A: The End Times is the destruction of the Warhammer Fantasy setting, both in and out of universe. Chaos won the final confrontation and destroyed the world, beginning a new cycle and franchise. Out-of-universe this was done because Fantasy's models were costing Games Workshop more money than they were making them so they decided to scrap the setting entirely and reboot it as an 80's power metal album cover.

Disclaimers/Guidelines (I know that we're not supposed to back-seat moderate but sometimes it's necessary to keep things organized):
1. The most important thing; I AM NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. Do not take what I say as the gospel truth, I can forget and I can misread things just like everybody else. My knowledge of the Elves is also pretty shady. There are several regulars around who tend to fill in blanks or correct me if I'm wrong though, so you'll probably get your answer regardless.

2. Repeat questions are ok, so long as the question hasn't been asked on the same page or the one before it. I don't expect anybody to sift through 3000+ posts, but a light skim of the previous page won't kill anybody.

3. GW is extremely vague on many things, so sometimes there just simply isn't an answer to your question. They're also prone to retcons so sometimes what you think is the answer is no longer valid.

4. Try to avoid arguments. I know that sometimes they're unavoidable, but please don't deliberately antagonize anybody. Pretty basic.

5. No continuing the "Skaven don't exist" meme outside the context of the lore. I know it's fun sometimes, but it's old, tired, and just wants to rest. Plus it grates on other people.

think one of the first steps would be having a stable powersupply
you would fry circuitry pretty quick with the irregularity's that warpstone power just naturally has
would need some sophisticated buffer

True, you would need some kind of capacitor storage device that reads the power levels and adjusts itself before the power flows into the PSU and then into the circuit and then rudimentary versions of our caps would have to be made, granted the board would be a little strange compared to a modern motherboard as I would assume the Skaven wouldn't be able to create anything more advanced than rope memory, maybe some of the magnet stuff (A compute unit that you can still see the traces and count the pins on, so ~32x32 or smaller. When electricity flows into it, the magnetic properties change creating a 1 and 0 state) and simple single layer large circuit boards rather than the refined multi-layer boards we can make, just due to the difference in available tools for the process. That said I think they could make something that would be able to somewhat output a voltage they desire, likely with a large tolerance for power discrepancies but I think they are smart enough to make something like that, they already kind of do that on some of there weapons when pushing power around, they'd just need to refine the process and make it a little more redundant or something.

At the current level of tech the Skaven have, could they create functioning circuitry for a computer? like Core rope memory for the space/missile program they were advancing towards? Or is that something too refined for them to pull off?
It's possible, but it probably wouldn't function for long.

They're not. Are they WoC? I haven't played the game in a very long time.

Theyre WoC but they have different systems in place that make them focused on their patron god
Ah, that makes more sense.
To couch this question in a way that's still relevant to Warhammer; would you be happy if there was a TV series based off Warhammer Fantasy, of comparable quality to a recent Amazon Prime adaptation of a certain post-apocalyptic franchise? I've not seen it, but heard mostly positive things about it?
I find that "recent Amazon Prime adaptation of a certain post-apocalyptic franchise" completely butchered original games lore as well as New Vegas. But that is nothing new when you consider that both Amazon and Bethesda are at work.
So no.

No, I would really rather we not get a Warhammer Fantasy adaptation and learn that the Empire was killed off-screen by the Old Ones fifteen years before the show started.
how much does the lore a wizard study influence their fashion sense
and how much is just peer pressure

wizards are old enough to have grown out of that
but they dont

It's probably a mix of both, it varies by College, although the lore seems to be the primary driving force.
aside from the tzarina and Elspeth von Draken, do we have another other examples of human wizard dynasties

no, because they don't happen, katrina doesn't even count because she's the first ice witch in the family in a long time. i don't know if the von dark wizard even counts since...y'know, a lot of necromancers aren't proper wizards but normies abusing congeled dark magic
Could someone have sex with a Daemonette before it kills them or would it always seduce them than kill them before anything happens. Also how good would it be since they are the creations of the Prince of Pleasure? Top 10 at least right?
you can def get fd by a deamonette before it kills you
tho usually you die during
good chance your not the one penetrating tho
and it would feel real good, lethally good, it wouldnt have to kill you because your neurons would melt with how good it would feel
Does the lore explain how casting magic actually works? (Primarily for Mortals) I believe intelligence is implied to be related, with things like high magic being impossible for humans and there being colleges for studying it? Is it like DND wizards where you have to memorize spell formulas and such? Is magical ability a born thing outside of pacts with gods and whatnot? Is there a "mana" system or similar limitation on how much you can cast, or is it just mentally fatiguing to do so?
