Incidently, at their release they had a rule allowing their characters 2 slots for magic helmets. Because their hats were just that big :)
Yes even though the big hat look is the classic look, I get that. But come on now, we can agree the big Dark Eldar update in 40k was necessary for the DE in the tabletop (remember their old look?) why didn't the Chaos Dwarfs get the same treatment?
a) They used the old, big hat models for the Chaos Dwarfs from the 90s, and also
b) That they look too new and 'AOS' like, they should be more like the cool 90s version.
I mean, it's one thing to have a preference, and that's fine, but you realize how silly you sound, right?
a) I really wanted the more recent 8th edition interpretation of the Chaos Dwarfs instead of the older 4th edition and below look with the dumb hats. (I realise 8th has the hats too but they're used sparingly and the overall look in 8th edition is more dark and industrial). Just feels like they ignored a clearly better design.
b) To me they look goofy the colour palette looks way too bright and something from AoS rather than the Adrian Smith style of Warhammer art of the past, henceforth: don't like. It feels like (like with AoS) they're trying to be more commercial and appeal to a wider audience at the expense (imo) of creativity.
c) You know the heavy, black-iron armour the Warriors of Chaos wear? The Chaos Dwarfs make that exclusively so why do both factions have different styles of armour? Chaos has that heavy black armour, the Chaos Dwarfs in this trailer have armour similar to a Power Ranger megazord.
d) A lot of the designs look like they could be drawn by a 3 year-old, the "skull" masks come to mind and the big phallic hats overridden with spikes and basic skulls add to this as well.
