Eltharion, Alith Anar, or Festus?

Can't decide which to play, never played any of the above before.

Do Festus. High elves always seem suspect. I don´t know how they translated the faction mechanics and campaign goals, but Eltharion had at least his own thing going in ME, probably offers the most units which are unique to him out of the three. Alith Anar has the shadow warriors. Something with shadows at least which the others don´t have - and his assassination missions, with unique agent, who can kill lords. Quite OP.

But i personally can´t stand the high elves voice lines as much. "High Elven Arsch Mage!", "We must restore order!". And Alith Anar seem overly secret. Can be funny, but gets old fast. His faction and he himself isn´t weak though. I guess he can also attack in ambush mode, but i´m unsure. Or was it something like teleportation stance? Something like it.

Festus is probably the standard WoC dude, but in the Nurgle version. Haven´t played any WoC faction personally, so that´s why i recommend it. :o)

He does both. He gets stalk stance and a variation of underways/worldroots called "shadow realm"

Alith Anar and Eltharion are probably the more difficult of the three though. Festus has a pretty secure position from which he can super infect the Empire and Kislev with diseases while not being far away from fellow Chaos factions he can ally with.

Last time I checked WoC were playing better than high elves. Ranged targeting being a bit wonky really hurts the helves early game armies. Still playable but less fun for me.

Eltharion imo, he's the most unique of the High Elves and has several unique units that only his faction can recruit. VERY GOOD UNITS.

His faction mechanic can be a little OP too, being able to imprison 2 legendary lords, essentially preventing those factions from any kind of effectiveness lol

Despite being one of the strongest factions and lords in the game he's weirdly the weakest HE lord on their roster though being a hybrid magic/melee character. Can't do magic as good as Alarielle or Teclis and can't fight as well as Alith Anar, Imrik or Tyrion.

But you should probably just have a go at all the factions you mentioned.

I loved cheesing with Elatharian. Use save friendly Trait Manager to spawn fresh Elven Lords, give them the Grom the Paunch defeat trait.(+10 HE relations). Then use a save friendly confederation mod that makes confederations easier once you hit 150+ rep, confederate all the High Elves before turn 30! Was lovely. If I did it by Vanilla Law, I'd have to have waited until turn 50 or 100 to get everyone because of silly programming.
