If Overhaul - Radious or SFO ?
Hello Friends,
Which one is better SFO or Radious?
I was big fan of SFO but with Radious i have much more fun and battles are really longer than in SFO.
How do You like it? I think Radious made incredible work for games like 3 Kingdoms and Attila, not to mention it's battle with DEI in Rome2.

Same here Ragnarjan, thank You for Your comment.
Radious definitely went downhill from TWWH2 the artwork is just awful and overbearing.

You mean unit icons? Yeah they are ugly, best ones were for 3 Kingdoms. But the rest is great.

Yes think he decided to "overhaul" CA's regular unit icons also which was a mistake. His unit icons from TW2 were much better.

Another Snow!
Radious is very unbalanced, you can be extremely overpowered and its just too easy. Fun for a few tries.

better SFO more loreful

Radious by a huge margin, if you're an infantry and cavalry enjoyer.

This. Radious makes all races almost identical which is super boring and not very lore friendly.

Not played either. Any pro con lists to both ?

I actually like it because I choose to keep my armies balanced for fun, not for unrelenting victory after victory. The doom stacks I am capable of forming are my nuclear deterrent, as I play on VH/VH... Love this game :steamhappy:

I choose to think of it as insurance to protect dozens of hours you have already spent on one campaign

Shock and Surprise: By keeping overpowered units in reserve, you maintain the element of surprise. When the battlefield situation becomes dire or critical, unleashing these powerful units can catch your opponents off guard, disrupting their plans and potentially turning the tide of battle in your favor.

Tactical Flexibility: Holding back overpowered units allows you to adapt to changing circumstances on the battlefield. By observing your opponent's tactics and deployments, you can identify strategic opportunities where deploying your super weapon would have the greatest impact. This approach ensures that you can respond effectively to emerging threats or exploit weaknesses in your opponent's defenses.

Psychological Warfare: The presence of a devastating super weapon in reserve can intimidate your opponents and disrupt their morale. The knowledge that you have a powerful force waiting to be unleashed can create fear and uncertainty, potentially forcing your opponents to make sub optimal decisions or adopt more defensive positions, thereby giving you a psychological advantage.

Preservation of Resources: Powerful units often come with high costs, whether in terms of recruitment or maintenance. Keeping them in reserve allows you to protect them from unnecessary risks early in the battle. By deploying them strategically when the situation demands, you ensure their survival and maximise their impact on the outcome of the conflict.

Control of Battle Tempo: By reserving your overpowered units, you maintain control over the pace and tempo of the battle. You can dictate the flow of the engagement, probing for weaknesses and drawing out your opponent's forces before unleashing your superweapon to strike at a critical moment. This approach gives you an opportunity to set the terms of engagement and seize the initiative.

It's important to note that the decision to employ this strategy depends on the specific circumstances, the capabilities of the overpowered units, and the overall battle plan. While keeping a superweapon in reserve can offer significant advantages, it also requires careful timing and execution to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Each battle and situation may call for different tactics, so it's crucial to assess the battlefield conditions, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your opponent, and make strategic decisions accordingly:steamthumbsup:

I found this to be the case as well. I've used Radious exclusively for historical titles for years, but making the factions more samey is not good for WH. SFO is pretty decent but they both make the game too easy.
