Last I heard the GPU lock didn't work, it would lock your frames but the GPU would still work it's ass off ant climb temps for no reason just without pushing frames ....
But as long as they don´t do it, You could simply change it in the driver settings for that game - or in the global settings. Takes like 12 seconds. And if Your monitor is 60 Hz You could also enable VSync to limit the fps in game. Or in the driver.
I guess the majority of players would like the idea of having the need to limit the fps to 60, which implies You run the game with way more fps. We could just exchange our graphics cards - You would rarely reach 60 with it, except for low or medium settings. Everyone would benefit from it. :o)
Sorry if I was abrasive earlier I just get frustrated when they don't include options like that in the game itself since a lot of the time outside workarounds don't seem to work properly.
You could try 45 / 50, maybe knock a visual setting down a tiny bit. (shadows, etc)
We all understand your frustrations.
I've managed to lower it about 10 degrees by capping it to 60 through nvidia, but typically something running at 60 doesn't cause anywhere near as much heat unless it's extremely demanding.
Usually the graphics card will always use it´s limit if it isn´t capped by something like the CPU, which tells the GPU what to do, or perhaps the software itself. So You get more fps, till the max which the card could possibly provide. If You cap the fps - it´ll work less.
Nah - all good. :o)
And for temperature in general it´s also much about what case You use. Many people prefer "silent" cases, which as downside usually don´t have good airflow and higher temperatures, and therefore perhaps lower performance. I for myself use mesh cases, as they have the best airflow, but the noise in the case isn´t much filtered. But i also never had temperature problems, even if i would overclock to the max which my hardware provides without returning errors, while then it´s ofc 20 degrees more. In general temperature only gets problematic, when it throttles down the system. And noise is a thing which happens if You don´t have a big passive cooling system, the most silent fans for everything, which also move enough air - or watercooling - if noise was the problem.
The CPU isn't hot, it's very well cooled, however the GPU isn't directly cooled aside from its own fans (something I will change next time I build a PC)
The temperature doesn't necessarily effect the PC but it effects my room temperature, makes an Aussie summer hard when your GPU is sitting at 80 degrees unnecessarily.
I haven't used a GALAX card before, but I've been using EVGA Precision for years and my GT 8800 (Can't remember vendor), GTX 970 (GIGABYTE), RTX 2060 (Dell Inspiron), and RTX 3070 (Alienware) cards all worked with it, and I was able to use the features that I needed without any issues. If you launch it, EVG Precision should detect it, otherwise it will let you know that you have non-supported card.
If You have 3 120mm fans in the front - they will blow above and below the Graphics Card as it sits between the lower two, and the upper one will support cooling the CPU. These three and and forth 120mm behind the CPU cooler are the only ones i use.
And yes - i know what You mean with the room temperature. Since two years i live somewhere with a not so well isolated roof - so even if the summer here is short, it gets very hot. That´s one reason why i delay upgrading. Need to move first. Probably before the next summer. :o) The upside: in the winter it can function as heating...
Apologies for the slow reply, I was on a holiday with my partner.
Yeah I like fractal, I had a hard time choosing cases but I had a fractal previously and their customer service is great. One of my front USB ports shorted once, and I sent an email to them, and they sent out a whole new front panel free of charge and I don't think it was even under warranty at that point.
That makes sense about the fans, next time I upgrade (not for a long while yet) I'll get a better cooled GPU but might also directly cool it I've heard of dual AIO rigs before but that seems cluttered.
I actually only have 2 front case fans and 1 rear fan, plus my AIO which blows out up the top, maybe I should swap it around so it pulls in from the front and the fans exhaust instead, but I think I did it this way to avoid bubbles in the cooler.
I could put a 3rd front fan in, but the case fans that come with the case are difficult to get separately for a reasonable price. I have some Silent wings 3 that I can use to either replace all of them, or just add in an extra, there's no issue with mixing fans is there? Sorry for the slow reply. Thanks for your help.
Ok I will definitely look into this software cheers man, I actually force removed the galax app/software from my PC as it was conflicting with other software and locking the fan curve etc.
