If your forced to auto resolve you could look online for tips (or ask in these boards)
There are MANY different ways to defeat tough lords.
or try less difficulty until you master different tactics?
what forces are you using to try and defeat them?
I remember before the 1st game came out, they said there will be magic in the game, we all "oh really" .. "no no dont worry magic will be just for support, it will not be very strong"...
