Multiplayer Lag

I know alot of people play solo, but its strange I dont see many discussions talking about the unbearable lag in multiplayer campaigns. Only doing a coop with one other person and its like im watching a powerpoint presentation.

I know your pain, a former bud of mine who lives in a swamp tried to play a co-op campaign with me back in WH2.

We both have great computers, but his internet is awful so the lag was unbearable.

This is yet another reason why I want Hotseat mode.

There is not, you have a problem on your end. We did 2player, 3 player, 4 player and 5 player coop campaigns there is no issue unless someone has a bad connection.

Change hosts, check ports and check connection, you should be able to fix it like that

some parts of the world have better developed internet infrastructure than other parts of the world. for those of us that are blessed enough to live in parts where the infrastructure is developed quite well it is easy to forget that not everyone is that fortunate.

even in countries like the USA having a proper connecting is not guaranteed, sadly there are some parts where the internet providers enjoy a monopoly or very little competition, so they are not incetivized to develop the infrastructure in order to remain competative.
checking ports and connections might help, but assuming that it would fix the issue for everyone is a mistake.

puggly is correct, hotseat mode would help players enjoy a multiplayer experience.
i dont know about OP but people like puggly could invite his friend over for a gaming party, taking turns on one pc like people did in the old days with medieval total war 2.

There are no discussions because it's probably your problem, what connection do you have? PC specs? We play from the beginning in 4 and we have never had any problems, except once but it was a friend who played with a bad connection. Now it seems even better.

We are all in the same country all have really decent computers and you cant even play the campaign map without extreme lag. It takes 3-4 seconds for a Lord to move when you click them to move. It's honestly shocking.

this war hammer 3 having the same issues like as old online game : i.e Gears of wars
to resume , is not about player connexion issues , its all about of the p2p server system when an player hosting a "room " for a game .
ranked match seems to be hosted on dedicad server

old olnline total war game online , having less those issues :(
tryed with this freekend to do some 2v2 or 3v3 , extremely laggy

Me and my friends always lag on wh3 in multiplayer campaigns however dont have any lag at all in wh2 our connections and pc's are all the same only difference is wh3

Same as Krazna, I never asked my friend if he has the same issue but for me the difference between single player and multiplayer is very noticeable. Not gamebreaking, but BOTH the fps and delay on everything is *only* on MP for TW3. Never had this issue on TW2.

The biggest factor I've found affecting lag is unit size. I was having tons of lag with ulta (both good computers and good connection), turned it down to large and it was fine, medium and it was all smooth.

I think i've found the solution, me and my friend had the same problem while playing coop campaign so we hopped in to some multiplayer battles and did some testing with graphics, unit sizes etc. end when everything was going well, my buddy pressed the 'esc' button to end the match, thats when the normal battle changed to a powerpoint presentation, and then it clicked, we both have a second monitor, and when one of us was doing his manual battle in campaign, the other was alt+tabbed out of the game and doing other things on a second monitor.
Not alt + tabing/ pressing 'esc' helped us, hope it will help at least someone else

Yeah the lag is real, even though im playing with people that are only one state away, it seems to lag and when we play with mates from other countries well thats just horror...

A solution we found was to download Hamachi, I really dislike using it but it actually does help a metric ton for us, Means we can play together (even overseas) and not have to worry about insane lag

i'm Having the same issue, funny how this wasn't an issue till the current patch came out
