What you guys think about Total War Warhammer 40k next
Make it like napoleon with ranged combat focus but still have melee units and monsters.

It's very possible.

Check out this upcoming WW1 game.

CA probably won't do it cause y'know why but it seems to combine 4x, RTS, and grand strategy.

It looks somewhat promising though I hope, lacking the direct simulation of the wider war's effects, that it incorporates that in some way via events etc.

I don't think it would work in the Total War framework. I fully believe CA could do something great but I think it would be near impossible to make a map like how CA do within 40K.

Warhammer fantasy is big, Warhammer 40,000 is so indescribably large that I don't think the current set up would work.

To be clear, I would be hyped for a CA 40K game but don't know it can be done right now.

Highly unlikely, the current TW formula does not work with 40K combat, because 40k combat isn't napoleonic combat. It is a mix of 20th-21st century.

Where's our jumpjets then! Or our Titans. Or even bog standard power armour.

Nah 40k is it's own thing and it could work with total warhammer. If you like seeing small squads of up to 20 models at most. Maybe 60 for swarm unit's.

They exist, in my head

I think it's perfectly doable, but as of right now I don't know if I trust CA to innovate enough to make it happen. They put a lot of work into making Total Warhammer work, but that was years ago. We'd have to see.

the only way they do it is a single planet or say star system that one cna move about in to various planets and on planet is the campaign maps
so it owuld be wh1/2/3 combined per planet
that is very heavy and not everyone has a 4090 do they lol
oh it oculd be done but the 5 people playing it would need ot pay 5m bucks each

I could see CA pulling off something decent with this concept, it definitely wouldn’t be a traditional Total War game though. :pug:

It would probably work best as some mix of Dawn of War and that fan-made game, Chapter Master.

Have the galaxy map be turn based, while the battles are real time.

Also, another company already owns the rights to 40k Space battles, so when fleets engage each other in this hypothetical game, it’d either be mandatory auto-resolve, or some sort of “skip straight to the boarding action” type of deal. :PugDJ:

Oh and it would, of course, need Hotseat mode in order to truly be a success. :donpug:

I am not interesting in WH 40K at all

I think, it is very possible
...but, it would be different from "standard" total war formula with "line combat" , I would expect battles similar to Company of Heroes

Apocalypse is tech different game than standard 9th, and certainly far cry from reality of most 2000pt competitive matches which rarely have unit sizes above 8-10 models(depending on faction, but like even nids, they’ve bumped cost for all units up so it’s a tight squeeze if want single carnifex along with etc)

Has its own rule books etc: https://warhammer40000.com/apocalypse/

Don’t even think dice rolling is same, and iirc got its own markers etc and rules for group shooting you don’t use in normal matches

Maybe? I can't really see the battles translating well at all, let alone any strategic map

So call it Total Warhammer: 40,000 Apocalypse.

Check out the Dawn of War games, they got half-way there tbh, even had strategic turn based maps.
