Cathay Bastion is quite useless in IE
So, the only reason the Bastion has any value is because of the mechanic that spawns the norscan armies to attack the gates. Take that away and the Bastion overall is useless, since no other faction ever attacks it besides the faction triggered by the mechanic. And Vilitch... oh boy, he ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doesn't care.

He just teleports on the other side of the gates with multiple armies and ♥♥♥♥♥ you from within. Fun times...

Anyways, whats the point of the Bastions in IE ? I mean yeah sure mechanic here and there but overall ? It does nothing and without the mechanic it does even less, especially since the only enemy that MIGHT be a thread to the gates ignores them completely because he can teleport to the other side or comes from the west. Compare it to the HE gates... atleast they get attacked by different factions and no one can pass through them or teleport to the other side with multiple armies in one turn (not counting WE, Beastmen etc) Meanwhile the Cathay Bastion is only there because of the mechanic. Wow, I'm so impressed by the almighty wall that is supposed to hold back and defend against everything the chaos has to offer, however its only one faction: *cough* norsca *cough*

I wish there would be more enemy factions attacking the gates and making them usefull.

Maybe use upkeep reduction"s from bastion to pad military strength so AI is less likely to declare war

What exactly has anything you wrote to do with anything I wrote ? I obviously dont want less enemies, I want more, since the Bastion and its mechanic are useless, since only the faction that spawns with the mechanic, attacks the Bastions and no other faction ever attacks it, not even Vilitch.

It used to be better back at launch for Realms of Chaos. And then people complained which caused CA to tone down the attacks. Before it regularly got attacked and it served as an excellent source of loot and experience for your generals.

So another feature that got pretty much removed because of the crybabies demanding an even easier game ? Oh well... should have guessed that, after the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CA is doing since 2.0

if u dont raze them full, the norscans there will attack it all few turns, idk what ur problem is. at least before 2.2, i terminated my t130 cathay camp after that.

and eh, it was kinda pointless at RoC release. u had a copypaste fight all few turns, great and fun right... it was literally the same over and over again

idk why u'd farm XP on regular cathayan lords, they are not very strong anyways.

The irony is that back at launch, it had some pretty powerful defenses with along with all the game 3 faction garrisons. But with the way garrisons were super nerfed at the launch of Champions of Chaos / Immortal Empires, it is now harder to defend the Great Bastion while simultaneously making the attacks less frequent so its in this weird spot now.

I got attacked like twice within my 90 turns cathay campaign and it was fun the first time, but the second time already was boring, because the armies that attack the gates are always the same literally. Nothing new, just a bunch of barbarians with a few trolls and mammoths. What a disappointment.

In another thread I've made a suggestion CA adds back updated and reworked RoC to the empty space in North-East of the map for DLC purposes and it'd be nice if sometimes AI could spawn those armies instead of Norsca but idk if GW would agree 'cause lore... but then again, maybe we can have a Chaos crisis happen behind the wall to liven up the area a bit.

Not really, enemy attacking them made the game significantly easier. You never had any chance of losing, it gave ton of exp(about 25-30 levels worth with the succubus follower) and well over 15k gold per battle. Out of the triple/quadruple armies only couple mammoths ever even got inside the walls to show just how one sided the battles were in favor of Cathay and that's on highest difficulty. Those battles needed to have enemies start at same time on the map at the very least so it wouldn't be just one army dying for another to come die next in line. The wall battle income combined with caravans basically meant you never ever had to even think about money. In multiplayer it probably worked fine without dumbfudge AI, but for single player it was just free exp/gold/item farm with no downside.

impossible, as the cathay wall threat thingy builds up automatically and sends 3 stacks all ~10-15 turns. and there's naturally 2 minor norscans there who will yolo against it once they have 2-3 stacks as well

i mean norsca got afaik no real overhauls, and ye, armies tend to be monsterspam.. also that ain't much new.

i had several attacks of 4 armies at once, at one point even six pretty much full stacks in one turn lol. mostly mid and left gate tho

and before u complain, high elven gates are even worse, they did them really dirty in wh3.

Yeah pretty pointless. I found it more fun when the attacks where more frequent too.
I can only hope that the wall not stoping anyone is a bug, but who knows these days CA is deciding whats a bug and whats a feature via dice it seems.
In RoC you still can´t teleport over the wall, in IE everyone with a stance that can make them suddently apear somewhere can cross it, tried it with Grimgore too.

It was useless in the Lore too, and even the real life basis for it was just stormed over by the very people it was specifically designed to defend against.

Along with the whole compass is pretty useless in IE. Litterally just rotate lock between growth and control which is pretty non beneficial if you work harmony correctly.
