I'd go as far to say warhammer 3 has the most brain dead MP design in the history of any MP games. Just everything about WH TW 3 MP is moronically laid out, domination especially.
There're endless ways to do map exploit, host player/players will con you into a specific map that only benefits their favoriate faction and playstyle, and there's no offline vs AI mode for players to practice to get to know the map.
that being said, half of the domination maps are pretty stupid to begin with, feature enormous advantage to certain factions.
For example, one map has forest enviorment on all 3 catpure points and have the middle one blocked with walls and trees, that makes any factions rely on range units obsolete from the get go.
Then how can a mode be fun when no units actual die? they can keep respwaned as long as you spent points and keep micomanaging. meanwhile all range units can run out of ammo and became worthless place holders in middle game.
the UI, player communication interface, info tap etc just have no place in modern MP games, you always connect to players across the global with dial up internet and voodoo powered PeeC, half of my MP games almost feel like someone else is controlling my units with insane input delays I thought I was hacked.
oh, and don't get me started on the holy donkey infranty AI and faction balance, in short, TW WH3 is 10 thousand years away from getting a legit MP game, no one will take it seriously.
It is however nice to have some more options.
Trust me, I hated the idea initially. But after trying it out, well I was lucky to meet 3 other players with good computers and smooth connection. I had tones of fun.
Yes I know that troops re spawning is a new concept that even myself, a veteran total war multiplayer fan had a hard time accepting. It completely changed my perception of the game. It actually increased the depths of the tactical and strategical consideration of deployments and engagement, in my opinion. Battles get longer and more intense. And saving points to deploy better units instead of spamming cheap units as fast as you can become a viable option.
Still, it is unfortunate that you guys didn't like it. But hey, I am glad you guys replied.
It is great that when you want something other than campaign, there is MP land and domination battles, I also have fun playing them.
Actually now that I think about it, Domination feels like Dawn of War II. Fantasy version.
