Best lord for soloing armies in immortal empires?
i feel like one of the best lords for a good ol 1v20 has to be Zhao Ming right?

If not who do you think easily shines above the rest

Lots of lord can do that. THe best if it's not about time but about ending the battle with full health or near it no matter how much enemy there was, may be vlad.
Another strong contender is Malus.

kairos if you can get him unbreakable
90% ward save is a lot harder these days, so the candidate list for the traditional SoK style is shorter. Morathi is still the easiest to build, but not that robust. Volkmar can get a very good save with the factionwide buffs and has good built in wardsave+regen as well as a relatively short CD infinite use crowd clearer, he's a solid candidate as well.

Vlad is currently absurdly tanky and I bet could be built to be a contender for this

I'd say Malus. If you really go out of your way to make vassals then Kholek is the number 1, but it takes so much more effort and time to build up the faction effect.

The kings of it are (in no particular order) Zhou Ming, Vlad, Malus, Teclis, Imrik, Morathi, Kairos, Volkmar, Eltharion, Archaeon. Everyone else I can think of is either reliant on the Sword of Khaine to do it, or requires that you already own most of the map. Dishonorable mention to Luthor Harkon, because if you manage to kill Gotrik with him, Harkon's insane defenses, hand cannon, and terrorgoose mount makes him beyond obnoxious to dispose of. But unlike most vampire lords, he's packing either no magic, or Deeps magic, which means his healing is far more limited.

Harkon doesn't need healing, he's got 2 forms of regen. If you ward save stack him, he'll outheal damage taken. I don't think he can wipe multiple stacks by himself without sword of khaine though.

Did Kholek get nerfed or something? In WH2 he was arguably the strongest non sword of khaine 1 man doomstack, since he could hit 90% ward save without the sword of khaine and he's just got super good base stats. Unless something changed I would imagine he can do the same in WH2.

Currently playing a Taurox campaign. B lined it straight for sword of Khaine amd camped until it was claimed. Playing a round 8 or 9 sword of khaine Taurox is litterally easy mode. He runs in and destroys everyone and everything once sword of khaine hits t3 you are nearly unbeatable. Nearly 9k hp with 1.3k AS 123 melee attack hit with magic/sunder/daze is really OP.

Only one that might be stronger is Suneater who can get 1.3k without sword of khaine or skarbrand (but havent tested him in IE yet) with chainsword

Check out LegendOfTotalwar's one man doomstack video's. So far Vilitch seems to be the best. One man doomstack needs to have high wardsave, regeneration, preferably is small and uses magic. High wardsave to reduce incoming damage. Regeneration to heal. Small, so is difficult to target with missiles. Magic to kill the AI fast.

Kholek's problem is his size. Same issue Durthu and Throgg have. Being so big makes it way too easy for them to get worn down by ranged firepower.

If they're going to be large, they need to be hypermobile or have massive aoe to remove the ranged units or engage them.

I always thought Malekith on his dragon was pretty beastly

2 Cathay lords are probably top tier, they have huge health pool, multiple OP items via caravan/tech and both are good built in spell caster with aoe spells, also plus flying. I value Yao ming above Zhao as in my playthroughs talons of night does better than final transmutations.

Azazel can get sword of slannesh via dilemma and has built in aoe spells plus flying.

Volkmar has built in regen and free battle prayer AOE.

I think in order to contend with "best" spot in this case the lord have to have high health pool, access to regen via item or spell, have built in resist/ward save ability or item (or banner from tech, in case of cathay), have good built in aoe ability to clear chaffs.
I'm really late, but why is no one saying "Khollek Sun Eater"? He literally can wipe out two armies just by walking through them, if he has enough vassals.

I thought a necromancer would be your favourite
