The sweet spot for me was 25 units. And I strictly used the extra slota for hero units.
Yes but I think for many reasons it would be cooler to have 40 unit armies. (general boosts, stances, moving around map, etc)
Name one battle that consisted of "millions of soldiers"? Note, not a war overall, not a series of battles along a warfront, not a siege that lasted years, just a single battle.
