Bears and predators are opportunistic hunter. It will likely go back to it's army will cause damage both sides.
In lore goblins aren't stupid either they are cunning will likely put some deterrents like traps to slow down the charges.
In terms of gameplay AI knows how to braced quickly which can stop charges. Unless CA will nerf this.
Yes the horses did die in most of cases, but in doing so it allowed for a breach in the infantry formation thus breaking it.
Jesus thats horrible
Clearly you've never encountered a pack of children in a third world country.
Regardless, the largest factor is, as discussed above, the simplified nature of Total War's physics and the general issues with units (cavalry, especially) "sticking" to infantry due to loss of momentum in everything downstream of Attila. Fortunately, in those older titles, any unit that was "running away" because it was stuck was instantly killed, freeing the rest of the unit. That's just not the case here.
But bears are wild animals and cannot be domesticated easily. Same thing applied to War elephants.
Charging a squad of units fully prepared can definitely stop a charging units as you stated warhorse charging a wall spear but those animals are domesticated and bred.
In CA description and creation of this units, bears aren't domesticated. Kislev bear riders did some practice that allowed them to ride this beast meaning this beast have still free will. Bears aren't stupid animals charging to a wall of spears unless there is an opportunity.
i had a 4600 dragon stuck on 1 troll. not only wouldn't the dragon move an inch on it's own the troll literally pushed it aside when it walked away.
I know trolls are supposed to be very strong, but still a dragon should be able to punt it across the battle field if one gets in it's way.
Just yesterday I had some spawn of tzeentch fight against ogre bulls. And during the fight, not even a charge, one of the ogres sent a spawn flying as if it was some small unit. I mean, I found those things funny and awesome at the same time so it's not really a complaint. It was just weird moment where you're like "what just happened" 😁. I guess ogres are just that strong idk 😅.
The bear just don't want to get hurt by pointy spears or get the paw dirty.
yeah i have seen strange things like that too. vargulf being send flying by ogres or giants.
The thing that annoys me the most though is that the weirdness is always to the detriment of the player. the ai will happily walk his goblin lord through a unit of ironbreakers or treekin without any issue pushing them aside as if they're made of tissue paper.
It was a goblin oriented army vs vampire coast. So during the battle greenskins killled all the units and only Luthor Harkon was left on his flying mount with not that much hp left while the goblins still had a good amount of units more or less beat up.
So they ended up preparing for the final fight, and instead what happened is that goblins started to either break or run in terror one after another the moment Harkon moved in closer.
I can just imagine the scene where the goblins are like "we outnumber you 500 to 1, surrender or die!!!". Harkon moves forward few feet and all the goblins are like "RUUUUUUNNNNNNNN"😂
