More sea lanes needed?
Looking at the current map of IE sea lanes, it feels.. not particularly helpful.. most of the time.

For example I'm playing as Imrik and wanting to get him over to Ulthuan. None of the current sea lanes help with that.

Maybe instead of being linked to one other specific sea lane, they could all just be "fast travel" points, which allow you to select any other fast travel point on the map to exit from. There could be a waiting period of X turns before appearing at the exit point, depending on the distance. Or an associated gold cost that scales with distance.

Or failing that, just add a couple more sea lanes that are actually in useful & accessible places?

I dunno, I like that they connect specific points, points that wouldn't even need connecting if the map was spherical as it would be IRL. I really wouldn't want them to just work as teleport points letting you go anywhere, kind of defeats the purpose of having different parts of the map and different terrain.

why would imrik going around the world to go to ulthuan be a shortcut in any way
and why should it
that makes no sense

Disagree, they are fine implemented as they are. I used them as Teclis. After eliminating Kairos, used the sea lanes to get to lokhir, then rakarth, then to malekith. Makes eliminating enemies of teclis very straightforward.

They are just to simulate the connection between the east and west ends of the map. Not be an insta travel point.

That said, some factions (wood eliminating elves, oxyotl, belakor) do have insta travel. It shouldn't be any more widespread than that. Wouldn't be unique otherwise

No they are fine as they are.

Well for the moment, his campaign is bugged such that you can't confederate Caledor.
And his Long Victory conditions require you to control all of Ulthuan.

thats still not a reason to go all around the world instead of northwest

That would be, what, 40 turns of movement?
Ashardalon Oct 3, 2022 @ 11:34pm
never timed it
but still shorter then going around the world first
the shortest route to a destination is a strait line

They're not meant as arbitrary "fast travel" teleporters.

They simply represent that the world is round.

Worked for me yesterday. What was the issue with confederating?

It's not bugged for everyone, but a good chunk of players aren't getting the confederation prompt pop up after completing the appropriate mission.
Others also aren't getting the legendary dragon appearances because the timer is stuck/bugged.
