This. The Imperium is satire that lost its point decades ago when it started taking itself seriously.
The Empire (and the WHF world in general) is a gritty, brutal but overall functional setting with some actual thought put into it beyond "haha grimdark lol".
until they needed to sell more marines 10 years ago everything in 40k was well thought out and considered
in fantasy you dont even know where gork and mork are
Not the roster
why not be a happier person and relate to orks
be a better person and relate to dwarves
or just be a superior person and relate to elves
just dont relate to wood elves
40ks political story is also that after thousands of years humanity still doesnt have a solution to the political problem
so because of limitations of communication and logistics they had to fall back on feudalism while they let each of their fiefdoms use just about every political system imaginable as long as they pay their thites and follow the teachings of the emperor
far more logical and sensible then the idiots that just think spasenazies
40ks most depressing story is that there is no non retarded political system and this struggle will be ethernal
more ethernal then war
I can relate to humans in warhammer, just not the empire.
There are many cool characters among champions of chaos and former human factions such as undead or those who ascended to deamonhood....kislev, cathay and norsca are all human factions that are much more interesting and varied than the empire. And arguably, elves are the main "protagonist" race of warhammer fantasy, given the colossal influence they and not humans had on the history of warhammer world.
if warhammer fantasy literature focuses too much on human characters, it's because of writer's laziness and inability to exploit the non-generic parts of otherwise generic setting. they go for medieval human faction because it's the safest, most familiar territory that they can go wild with
Why would there be?
Edit: Ahh, you're an actual fascist, explains why you are so dumb.
40k also suffers from too few xenos books and if they do write about them they horribly mutilate the lore to humanize them
like the arrogant bioweapon in the devastation of baal or the germaphobe necrons in twice dead king
compared mistress baedas gift, faces or the path series that actually write xenos as xenos those books are sadder then yet more human books dumped onto the massive pile
