Cathay dragon emperor wrath wont cause attrition

Hey guys, am I encountering a bug or dont understand the mechanics?

Playing as Cathay, charge up the Wrath at compass, press the button...and nothing happens to any chaos army outside the Bastion.

I tried it agaisnt kurgan rogue armies that spawned to attack the bastion, they were not in raiding stance nor other stances preventing attrition.

Did anyone have the same issue?

Dragon Emperor's Wrath, as far as I remember, only works in lands you control.
Lands outside the Bastion have such a high CXhaos Corruption later on, that it negates any attrition to Chaos Armies.

Oh so it actually needs to be a province outside held by me?

Interesting, I didnt think about corruption countering it. But isnt there supposed to be some sort of indication that there is negative attrition going on, even if it doesnt do much?

Not if the replenishment rate from the Corruption just eclipses it.

It's so badly worded- I can't tell if it means armies INSIDE Cathay or those north of the wall but near it....

From what I gathered from youtube and forums, its outside Cathay, nearby provinves north of the wall.

But if its really countered by corruption replentishment, its not gonna do alot. I am playing on legendary, perhaps AI gets extra boost to replentishment because of it.

It doesnt work on immortal empire. If you play Kairos or the new tzeench guy and get hit by the dragon emperor thingy, you will get fking rekt. But as Cathay it doesnt even trigger attrition.

No im sure it worked before because when i played on the chaos campaign when game first came out, it worked. I remember this because I didnt realize you have to hit the button to trigger it LOL

I started cathay yesterday, on hard/hard and it didnt work for me. Dozens of armies were beyond the wall and nothing happened.

If the corruption nullifies it then its utterly pointless mechanic

Doesn't it have to be fully charged or something? I can't remember. Fully charged as in change the compass to that direction and leave it there until the progress bar is full. What's important to keep in mind is the wording here: some directions give you passive bonuses just for activating (like the growth one); but some bonuses are activated only when it's your active compass selection AND when the progress bar is full (like the income one).

I think yes, its even mentioned when u selecting it

You have to hit the button for the attrition one, either way it dont work lol

It does work - it applies 3 turns of heavy attrition to armies in the gate region and the region in front of it (dragon crossroads i think its called). You should see the red skull & crossbones symbol above any armies stationed there. It doesnt actually drop their numbers until the next turn. I imagine that if the army is stationed inside the settlement of dragons crossroads then the attrition wouldn't be enough to counter the replenishment from that faction. The kurgan warbands that appear every so often to attack the bastion dont own that settlement and so dont get boosted replenishment.

Well, it didnt do anything for me, no indicator either. Thats why I was asking if its just me. Its either a bug or indeed high corruption nullifies it all.

Yes, I understand the mechanic. It was charged and I pressed the button. Nothing happened to any army outside for 3 turns.

It doesn't work for me either. If it isn't broken it definitely doesn't operate the same as it did in realm of chaos campaign.
