That said, both units have the benefit of clear line of sight. And honestly, I consider both of them to be support units.
As a support unit, the Sky Lantern is not something you should have multiple off in an army.
The Sky Lanterns are fast enough to keep up with your infantry, allowing for easy Harmony bonuses on the frontline.
And the army wide forest spotting means that enemies cant really hide and surprise you in most forests.
high altitude and low altititude
in high alt they have a ton of missile resist, and have suppression, but can only target flyers
in low alt they work as they currently do
also they should have more entities(like 2-3), i want a proper skyfleet
i think this would be closer to how they were portrayed in the trailer, and give them a clear role to assist your junks. On that note, maybe give them yang harmony so junks and lanterns together are in harmony(although reload would be better tham md for them)
Worth noting they have even been used in multiplayer tournament and to good effect.
I did notice that my lanterns were firing multiple shots at a time at different targets, when the unit card says they only shoot once per volley. And that 108 AP damage per shot means they're killing a model every 12 seconds. More if my eyes weren't lying to me and they really were shooting at multiple targets. They also can (relatively) safely provide harmony buffs to cavalry units that are away from your main lines, or your infantry blob if you want to have your archers and gunners further back (and have a War Compass to buff those).
bringing harmony to dangerous locations along with a harmony buff
shieldbreaking in all directions
sure the railgun probably wont pierce because of the angle but its still the entire unit losing its missile defense
not a huge fan of the missiles with how inaccurate they are, but following along and giving harmony to statues or cavalry the missiles can still have good shots either because the horses are gone or the statues dont care
just fire manually
also yes they do all fire separately
if you need more shots on one target you can spin
not that you should put more shots on one target since your firing for the debuff
They have 4 independant guns (the sky junk too, by the way!) and each can fire in an arc in each direction. Obviously, they reload independantly as well. If you spin them around, you will notice they will shoot each gun one after the other to a target in range. While it's impossible and ridiculous to think about microing them permanently, you can Q orders to make them spin slightly and when u're surrounded (if you play a box formation) they will assist each front.
I find them among the coolest new unit design in the game personally.
+1 to this even though this is a necro thread.
There are just far better units to take other than this.
That's it. Would it be nice if it had a bomb to drop? Yes. Does it need that? No.
Edit: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Necromancers.
