Only he/him daemon prince?
Am I the only one dissapointed that The Daemon Prince is customisable and renamable, but always in the masculine? The appeal of a blank slate character is to make your own right? Usually something you can project onto/identify with. So why not have a broader gender spectrum? Daemons are supposed to be malleable in form for the most part right? It feels like CA did a cool thing but only if you're in the cool kids club already. Certainly killed my interest in the faction dead.

Jesus christ.... You can't be serious.
I think you missed the part where it's called a Daemon Prince.

Actually, for once I was kind of serious. I know mostly I just post news and make sarcastic comments to poke fun at our favorite trolls around here, but by day as I've said before I am one of those terrible sjws that triggers so much of the Warhammer crowd for whatever reason

Sarcastro is so sensitive about it they think I'm part of a "kind" lol

I honestly think diversity are representation in media are good things. Since OP brought it up, I think its a good point, more gender options for the create a character type mode CA is introducing would have been cool and it's a missed opportunity in my book.

Personally I'm glad that they've taken the opportunities presented by rebooting Kislev and Cathay into full factions to introduce some more LLs who aren't men into the game.
Could you explain why you think representation and diversity are such a good thing?

The way I see it, it all comes from sexism/racism.
Seriously, if you're man, and can't in the least relate to a woman, then that's kinda sexist, and the other way around.
Also if you can't relate to another HUMAN because they are not the same skin color as you.. racist..
All the people asking for more poc and gender representation, racists and sexists the lot of of them, the seething hatred kinda gives it away too tho..

Edit: as if anyone should ever have the right to demand how someone else expresses their creativity (as long as they aren't physically hurting anyone)
It's a slippery slope my friend.

I won't devote a lot of time to this because we all know no one's opinion has ever been changed on the Steam forums and the mods are just going to shut the thread down anyways if we got into any kind of real discussion that wasn't about liches and trolls and beastmen

But.. people just don't work the way you are suggesting. If representation is meaningless and everyone is just able to relate in the same way to any video game character how do you explain the fact that the vast majority of video game playable characters in the history of the medium have been white men?

It wasn't coincidence, it happened for a reason. Developers largely made games starring characters that reminded them of themselves or who they wanted to be because they could relate to them better and because they and the publishers thought the audience would too. There are quotes out there about this from the people making those decisons. Same in Hollywood, same on TV, same pretty much everywhere. Content creators for most of the existence of modern media have agreed that properties featuring straight white dudes sell better. The fact that most of them were straight white dudes themselves wasn't coincidental either, it is kind of a feedback loop where white male creators make content that features characters who are also white male and market it towards a white male audience and some of that audience grows up to be creators.

There's a reason the audience for Dragon Ball Z has a different demographic makeup than the audience for Sailor Moon, or why WWE and General Hospital have a different audience or why my white American parents have never seen a Tyler Perry movie.

So in my view, your suggestion that everyone can and should relate to video game characters regardles of whether they share identity markers is pretty naive for two reasons. 1. That clearly isn't what is happening right now with most video game/pop culture characters being white dudes and 2. Women and people of color who enjoy gaming have actually been doing that for decades while white male gamers like myself haven't had to. They are probably much better at it than we are.

By the metric you are proposing, all of this is kind of sexist and racist, and I actually disagree. I don't think the developers who made Gordon Freeman (or insert pretty much any playable video game character here) a white guy are racist sexist bigots.

I think that like everyone it was easier for them the come up with a character who was largely like them. Cause people work that way whether they realize it or not or whether we want it to be true or not. Heck, if everyone related to all the same characters and media the way you are proposing, there wouldn't be French Literature and Russian Literature and Mexican Literature, there would just be literature. British Television would be the exact same as American Television which would be the same as Japanese Television. People just don't work the way you are proposing.

As for the benefit of representation, I think of my niece dressing up as Captain Marvel for Halloween. I remember when I was her age the girls had to be April O'Niel when the boys played Ninja Turtles. It was considered weird for them to want to be the heroes. Today it isn't, my niece can pretend to be a superhero too and basically nobody bats an eye. That's very cool.

That's thanks to people pushing for representation and inclusion in superhero movies. I would love to play Total War or Warhammer with her someday when she is older. She's a good kid and I love her and I like when she shares interests with me. Since people do tend to enjoy seeing characters they find easy to relate to in media, more women in Total War or Warhammer might make it more likely that she'll share this interest with me too

Anyways, this is going on much longer than I want it to. Its Saturday and I have video games to play and nothing I say is going to change anyone's minds anyways.

So one last thought. In terms of the "sheer hatred" you mentioned. I'll just point out that the few of us who have said it would be cool if the Demon Prince could be a Demon Princess or whatever aren't the ones saying they wish people who disagree with them would be "wiped out" in a war. Time and time again in these forums, the mere mention of "hey maybe it would be cool if there were more ladies in this game" has triggered more angry reactions than anything Vic has ever said.
Counterpoint, Ax'senaea is a female Daemon Prince. Its technically a gender neutral title, so that argument is null. Typically in fiction, titles like Demon Prince or Demon Lord are used, regardless of the gender of the individual in question.

Nope
I think a better question to be served here is if mono-god factions have access to customizable daemon princes that are only allowed unaffiliated and the affiliated god parts as hireable lords?

My little bit of research turns up nothing but I would think that having these daemon princes that are customizable but only within narrow limits would add to the greater variety of lords for the mono-god factions.

That would be dope, but I think the understanding is for now at least its just going to be this LL. Hopefully as a test bed for future updates imo. Being able to turn a poxbringer into a sloppity bilepiper or spoilpox scrivener would be ace, for instance.
This has to be bait ..right ? right ?

Oh god ive read too much reddit/twitter to believe that ...

Doesn't help that like 90% of the TWW community doesn't actually know Warhammer lore.

I think more options would be great and I'd be surprised if we didn't see more options in the future.
Gender is just a mundane concept for a Demon.

Only those who serve Slaanesh would be interested in exploiting our mortal cravings by appealing to our...needs for intimacy.
OP just wants a big tittied demon to play with.
Idk about you but they're all smoothies down there so I'm assuming that's why they're so angry and want skulls.
Well, he's a dude. He was once a Prince. A dude.

Maybe modders will be able to use this new system for a female character too.
