Chaos rifts are just too much
Seriously, the rifts are just too much and i've been forced to disable them trough editing game files.

It’s like they looked at the vortex campaign and said, “how the ♥♥♥♥ can we make this more annoying and release it in 3?”

For a start they appear too soon in the campaign before you can even get a foothold on your starting position, they should be around turn 60+ when you have a more established faction.

Obnoxious portals appearing allover the place is ridiculous IMO. especially so early in the campaign, maybe at turn 100 they should start opening to allow a more traditional campaign with a rush towards the end when things start to become a stomp, but not this.

The AI does not know how to close rifts thus causing mass amounts of agents and army's spamming the map early in the campaign.

Your forced to enter the realm because the AI rushes them and never seems to fail in taking a soul once they enter forcing you to enter them while basically having no armys to defend your settlements early game.

the rifts need a nerf especially early game to allow a more classic approach to a total war game instead of it been absolute madness from turn 20, its even more annoying when your fighting multiple factions on multiple fronts and have stacks everywhere on top of the chaos rifts spawning everywhere and then you have to send your best units to the rift to stop the AI from winning the campaign.

One idea , perhaps, would be IF someone gets all the souls the game does not end instantly Maybe there is some repercussions. Kind of like in Three Kingdoms when AI would get the throne.

It just isn't enjoyable at all and imo is ruining the campaign, nerf it or add an option to remove them from the campaign start.

If I may ask, how did you disable them completely? I am only able to increase timer till they spawn again but would prefer to turn them off completely.

Fun fact. You can destroy them with a hero. 1500 gold per rift.

Either that or fight it and destroy it with a lord, potentially getting a bunch of dosh. They're fine the way they are in my campaign.

The first one you cant really prevent but you can set the portal duration to 1 turn and the respawn to 999 turns. Then after the event triggers its gone right away and wont come back.

You can handle two regions with one lord I find before anything even pops out. Or are you just sitting there doing nothing? Curious because gates have caused very little problems for me.

Playing as kislev your basically surrounded on all sides and are in no position to tackle the realm of chaos while trying to hold back multiple factions from taking your few settlements that you actually have.

I'm playing paint the map and find them incredibly irritating. It's like CA heard us ♥♥♥♥♥ about how irritating the Wack-A-Mole game Total War becomes and so they added more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wack a mole mechanics. At this point I just assumed CA is trolling instead of making a decent game.

Yeah, you literally have to wait for god knows how long to play a traditional campaign where you expand your empire instead of these irritating rifts popping up everywhere

Ive literally fixed it myself though modding the files

First i left the duration they appear for on the map,

then i increased the time it takes for them to appear again

Then when the ai armys do spawn out of them its only armys and not rediculous amount of agents aswell

Much more enjoyable and not so much a rush and you can still enjoy been able to expand as normal and having the end game mechanics still there.

I'm not finding the rifts to be the pain. My hatred for the mechanics is trying to clear the negative traits after leaving the rifts. I spend more time sitting in settlements clearing the negative traits then actually battling.

Anyone know if the negative traits are cleared if i disband LL and bring them back in 5 turns?

I'm currently trying a Kislev campaign where i am ignoring the realms completely and using my time to expand my ally territory. No downtime, constantly battling, making friends out of order factions by gifting them territory. My allies play defense while i'm completely on offense making bank.

Not sure what happens if the AI get all 4 souls before me, They currently only have 2. I'm assuming there is a battle that i can do to stop them from winning the campaign?

Not really. If they get all 4 souls they can summon a portal in their territory to the Forge of Souls.
You have a few turns to get a army over there and stop them from reaching the portal.
If you dont have anything near or cant stop them and they enter the portal its game over.

There is no " teleport to battle" like in the Vortex campaign to stop them.

I agree. As Kislev, there's just too much happening around to even find time to enter the rifts and get the soul. And if you don't enter the first one at turn 30, your campaign is basically lost, coz the AI will surely get one everytime. I tried hunting down a faction, Nurgle this time whose ahead of the game, but the whole north is in an alliance and it's impossible.

You need to build the anti-skaven undercity building and it bumps the chance to remove traits by 50% (reads in the tooltip). ive literally never had to sit in my capital longer than 1 or 2 turns to get rid of a trait.

Those rifts appearing timer-based are bad design I have to admit that. There should be some deliberate player action trigger to start them, so those of us preferring to play a calmer pace can have their fun too
