Campaign Victory Rewards - SPOILERS
So I spent 40 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes on that comical slog of a last fight to win the campaign. Did it as the Daemon Prince. It looks like I've stopped Be'lakor, absorbed the power of Super Yogi for myself, and become a "fathomless" God. As a reward, I get no combat or campaign bonuses whatsoever. Just this ♥♥♥♥♥♥' toolbag Be'lakor as a lord. Gee thanks, its a lord. Guess I can raise another army now.

Did I seriously just get (practically) nothing for all that? Am I missing the real reward? Slap me down in the comments if there's a reward I get that I'm missing, I can take it.

Side question: I absolutely, positively never want to wade through those waves of endless baddies again, ever. Ever ever. Does it let you auto-resolve if you've already done it? If I just completely ignore all that crap, does the game end and Be'lekor shows up with like 16 dooms stacks and the game is over?

Nope you still have to always manually fight the last fight regardless of how many times you won it. Haven't found anyone who likes that battle either. Two the rifts continue to stay open after the campaign mechanics have been achieved and will continue to respawn. Three Warhammer 2 when you beat it, that was just it you didn't gain anything outside of not having to fight others for the vortex so at least we get something now. Four: Someone has claimed on these forums that there is a mod or a way to remove the ability for rifts to form completely. If someone finds a way let me know.

There's really no incentive (or possibility) to do anything but turtle in your first few zones and wait for rifts to form. Every time I started to push into hostile territory, I got the notification that it was rift time. At one point a single rift belched out 4 max-size end-game stacks in 4 turns and ate my forward province.

I'd be super psyched to see the rifts able to be toggled. As it stands I really liked... well, every single thing that wasn't the ultra-restrictive campaign objective. I even liked going into the realms of chaos, that was rad as heck. I just didn't like the whole game grinding to a halt every time rifts opened, which was super often.

Not true regarding WH2. Beating vortex provided massive factionwide bonuses, particularly to character recruitment.

Ah i wasn't aware of that. I kinda of stopped after and didn't notice anything different right away. If anything the one biggest annoyance of defeating a campaign was uh... that Empire hunter legendary lord. After defeating Nakai my favorite lizardman you still had that mechanic where it would spawn more enemies as you continued to fight. Something tells me the devs don't like removing campaign mechanics at all :/

Don't get me wrong, I liked a lotta lot about it. The new units are swanky and fresh, I love the custom faction leader stuff, there's lots to love and I loved most of the campaign, but the rift stuff was just jarring to the pacing and difficulty, and the end fight took so long I had to take a bathroom break.

To get nothing at the end was a bit of a gut punch.

Reward for what? The campaign is over at that point. It's not sandbox, it's a narrative campaign. You just have to play it for what it is while waiting for the combined map.

Think of him as a new LL to start a campaign with once mods arrive.

I thought vortex sucked but the rift system is even worse. They need to rebalance it. Turtling is not a fun way to play when you have to do it for so long. If we reduce chaos corruption in a province to a certian % then rifts should not be able to spawn, this way you can secure back provinces and push into new territory. That would make sense and make corruption a more interesting system

I guess this makes sense. At the same time, I felt like it also built up to invading Kislev, all of that. The Daemon Prince talked the whole time about invading everything else, and when he's a God he's going to wreck everybody's everything, and they give you an option (and even an epilogue bit) when you hit continue. There needs to be something. They didn't put all that in there with the expectation that everyone would just close the game after that fight.

Like seriously, like a +5% to some stats. Literally anything to represent that your character gained something.

Mild post-campaign update, it turns out that other empires will still collect 4 souls and "advance" the story as if they are going to go in and kill belakor after you already have. This re-opens every rift on the map.

So yeah, I guess they just don't really want the one-more-turn thing to happen on campaign. I guess it's just really wait for mortal empires for anything other than story mode, end of game. Fair enough.

At least in warhammer 2 finishing the story with the vortex granted you amazing faction effect of higher ranked recruitment for lords heros, units, and i think an upkeep reduction. Shame you only get belakor and no permanent faction effects.

Maybe it'll change with Mortal Empires.

I did find the "flow" of things a bit more natural on other empires, like Cathay. It was easier to play/expand on the campaign map while hunting for souls than it was on daemon prince to me. For now I'm going back to total warhams 2. Looking forward to how they fit a mortal empires campaign into it.

Hope they grant an option to turn of rifts, or at least turn off the whole rush for souls bit.
