Unlock factions

I m a kind of confused, that there are only that few factions.
Is it possible to unlock factions or will i have to buy dlcs?
Where are the dwarfs, vampires, empire, elfes and so on?

They'll be coming with Mortal Empires when ever it releases. Took about a month in TW:WHII

In a couple of weeks or months CA will release a Free LC called "Immortal empires" - where if you own the prvious two games yo uget a combined map to play as those factions from the games. And if you own the DLCs for those games, those of course as well.

But if you own only WH3? Elves, Dwarfs etc are not unlockable or playable in the main campaign

IE is coming, though it might take months,
about faction unlocker as we had in the second game before ME, i think once workshop in in, we might see something like it

if you go back to how long it took ME to come out for 2, it took 29 days.

There is one subfaction you can unlock, but otherwise there's nothing else you can unlock in the base campaign. The series has always only had 4 factions available for free at launch, so this game is starting with a god amount more than the rest of the series.

If you think the other game had more "free" ones, its because there's a mode called Mortal Empires that allows you to play as updated versions of the factions you own from the previous games. Said mode won't come out until at least a month after launch and will require you to own all games in the series in order to play.

Provided you bought the previous games and their dlcs, they will be provided for free when the Grand Campaign is released. As it is, it takes a lot of work and time to import all the factions and armies over to the game. This was the same case with 2, Norsca even got extra delays due to programming issues. But anyway, provided you bought everything in the previous games, no you won't have to pay extra when they eventually release, and if you didn't buy them, you unlock them by buying their home game (1 or 2) and the DLC they were released with back then.

In fairness, CA has been testing prototypes of the new map for a while already. You can actually find a version of one of their old prototypes in the game's files right now, including a list of every province added in so far.

Thanks guys, i m glad to hear.
I own both previous games and mostly all dlcs, that was the reason i was confused.
I got the games when they where released for a longer time, so i didnt know that it is working like that and you had to wait in the other games too.
I nearly own all games of the "total war" series. but in my opinion the warhammer series is most fun yet.
I also played "warhammer online" before it was dumped. Was a very good mmorpg, ways better than "world of warcraft". So i was pretty pissed when they closed "warhammer online" and this childish "world of warcraft" become the mainthing. Wished they hyped "warhammer online" more, so a lot of people wouldnt have to suffer to play this rudimentary "world of warcraft".
Nothing the less, i m over it, since they released the "total war warhammer" series. The whole universe is just exciting.

You'll have to wait until they add Mortal Empires. You also didn't apparently get the memo on Mortal Empires either.

they already did a lot of work, for example, a lot of units (if not all) are already in the game. if you check the unit and spell browser for it. there are even units i did not expect to see in there, like the yoked carnosaur and the ancestor hero;s for the dawi, the mystwalker units for the high elves and the special hero's the huntsman general had access to for the empire .
the main question is, how many battle maps will they rework to fit in with their new siege system, and how many of those did they already finish.

ich finde es nicht in ordnung, das spiel wurde als ganzes grosses warhammer 3 angekündigt
und jetzt bekommt man eine--chaos DLC - und muss warten bis es den rest gibt
der als grosser hype angekündigt wurde !!!!
find ich nicht gut !!!! und von wegen die ganze karte des universums !!!

I don't understand why people think it's a few factions..

If we just look at factions, then we got the same amount of factions as WH1 and WH2 on release.
If we look at races WH3 got double the amount of races than both WH1 and WH2.
