Yuri is, but it is also based on Archaon.
Archaon is based on Mordred, from the Arthurian legend, and Darth Vader from Star Wars.

The evil sword (inversion of the Excalibur trope) was original from Archaon's story, as far as I know.

I mean, it's basically the archetypical Chaos champion story anyway? Also, they absolutely are taking game lroe back into the TT now, considering they just announced that Kislev and Cathay would be in for their upcoming re-launch of classic Warhammer with The Old World.

I hear Tolkien ripped off Wracraft 3, but he was smart and made it a ring instead of a sword. Later on the Jews jumped the shark with the whole apple thing.

Because back then Warhammer was more niche than it is now. Warcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer game, so it'd make sense that th y re-used stories they were probably gonna do it there game was still a Warhammer one

Try to actually learn something before shooting off your mouth. The original Warcraft started out as a Warhammer Fantasy videogame, then the license deal fell through and Blizzard just went and turned the work they had done already into an original setting.
