Who will be the pre-order DLC?
My conclusion is that it will be Ogre Kingdoms for the total war Warhammer 3 pre-order bonus, and this a few points to make:

1. They are to the Southwest of Cathay. That means the player for Cathay would have two factions to fight aside from random NPC hordes. it would be very boring especially since Kislev would be your ally most likely

2. All Cathay would have to fight is literally just chaos demons other than the random orc tribe you'd encounter often, whereas in game 1 we had vampire counts, orcs and goblins, Empire and Dwarfs. Two order factions, two destruction factions and one Chaos faction at release. The same was for Warhammer 2 (norsca for chaos). Ogres would be the neutral destruction faction.

3. The darklands are about the size of the world's Edge mountains in terms of lengths and slightly moreso in width. The mountains of mourn are an entire continent size wide territory. That much unoccupied territory would be a massive slog to play with.it also would put a second Chaos faction as a starting race within the game which would be unbalanced as that would put a second enemy behind you with little space to put between yourselves.

4. Ogre kingdoms are far cooler than chaos dwarfs, but chaos dwarfs are cool too. Just not as much.

After all it ain't ogre until CA says it's ogre :^]

The pre-order dlc is actually a beastman rework :)

Milkandcookiestotalwar covered this topic on a video. He supported my points on the matter. Ogres are the most likely Choice for the preorder faction release.v

I would argue Chaos Dwarfs are the most likely DLC to hit before WH3. Ogre Kingdoms terf is further east then we got on the map right now while the Chaos Dwarfs have about half their territory in the game already.

Dogs of War.

The cinematic trailer was to tease the announcement of the Cathayans. The Ogres are sandwiched right between Kislev and Cathay. The CD are on a valley like wasteland right behind Kislev. Cathay would have no one to fight. Kislev would be overwhelmed.

Ogres are the logical sense.

Ah sorry, I was talking about the last race pack for WH2 and not the first race pack for WH3.

There won't be another WH2 race pack.

I guess it depends how one interpret

"We currently planning to have Race Pack as the Early Adopter bonus for Total War: WARHAMMER III – stay tuned for all the latest details about this as soon as we can reveal them!"

And since Norsca was a Early Adopter bonus I can see we get a similar thing for WH2.

There is nothing to interpret. Norsca was a Warhammer DLC. The preorder for Warhammer 3 is a Warhammer 3 DLC.

As I said, Norsca was a Early Adopter bonus, same as WH3 "might" be getting.

There is no might. They are clearly not similar.

WH 3: https://preview.redd.it/9t9xmkncfif61.jpg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c72c62b0d3d04cfffe127932c60059c153e29d70

WH 2: https://preview.redd.it/g3m8196bfif61.jpg?width=696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46bf4b9630b07084756609c3765c76885f1a6bb3

So all that is missing is the "playable in the first game ahead of" and I could be right. Well, guess we just have to wait and see whatever or not it will be a day 1 DLC or a Early Adopter bonus Race Pack.

It also specifically says "free Total War WARHAMMER (1) content".
New ones says "race pack for WARHAMMER III"

I'm actually leaning towards Dogs of War as the pre-order race because:

1. It's a race pack, not a campaign pack. That means a lower budget, and probably a lot of disappointed people if it's the Ogres or Chaos Dwarves

2. Dogs of War fit easily on the Vortex map (New World Colonies) as well as Mortal Empires (Tilea, Estalia, Border Princes). Thus far, CA has been careful to ensure that everything coming to WH2 is available on the Vortex map. While I've heard Milkandcookies' idea about the Ogres being a horde faction, or perhaps a semi-horde faction like Norsca, I find myself unconvinced that CA could make hordes not awful in the brief period remaining of WH2's life cycle. As to Chaos Dwarves, while they easily fit on the Mortal Empires map, it would be impossible to put them on the Vortex map, and demanding that players own both previous games just to access the pre-order is not going to make fans happy

3. As a faction, there's plenty of demand for them, but little real reason to make them as a DLC for WH3 (though they'd certainly fit on the WH3 map somewhere). It would be the last chance to have them for Dogs of War fans, whereas with Ogre Kingdoms and Chaos Dwarves we know we're getting both sooner or later anyway

4. Dogs of War offer the opportunity to pre-create assets for some more difficult races (mainly looking at the Ogre Kingdoms and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥'s Maneaters). This reduces overhead down the line, and ensures that the company gets money early for assets it needs to create either way.

5. We're getting it for free if we pre-order. That's a potentially serious sacrifice to income if they give us the more popular Chaos Dwarves or Ogre Kingdoms, and besides those two the only good options for DLC races are Nippon, Ind, and Khuresh (I discussed this in more detail in another thread).

But for real, it's going to be ogres. Since day one people wanted them and you don't need to be a redditor to know they're going to be the first dlc faction that isn't daemons

Why would a TW:W3 pre order race need to fit into the vortex map from TW:W2?
