UE4 Fatal Error when starting or loading a game
Hi, I load the game and it goes into to the main menu but when I select either to load a game or start a new game it goes to the loading screen and then after a few seconds the game crashes stating that a UE4 Fatal Error has occurred.

I was only playing yesterday and I do not recall seeing a game update since then. Is anyone else getting this? I do not fancy reinstalling the game as it's a long download on my internet.

It sounds a bit like your Unreal Engine installation is at fault here.
Could you try to re-install it? https://docs.unrealengine.com/4.27/en-US/Basics/InstallingUnrealEngine/

(someone else with a similar problem who just re-installed the epic games launcher to get UE working again: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1129580/discussions/7/4030222834112202516/#c4030222834113572174 )

Do you get any more text in the error message?

(Unless you opted into the beta public_testing branch, there wasn't an update yesterday.)

UE4 Fatal Error which what text/number do you get?
If you want someone to take a look on whats going wrong you'd be wise to dump your crashdump in here tho (open a file explorer, go to %LocalAppData%\Medieval_Dynasty\Saved\Crashes and upload the most recent crashfileset from there)

I have the same issue, I used to be able to play the game, but not anymore.
UE4Minidump.dmp contains exception code 0xc00000fd The thread used up its stack
And in the CrashContext xml I see a huge callstack list of over hunder lines that goes like this:
<CallStack>
gameoverlayrenderer64 0x00007ffce2e70000 + 8c68c
EOSOVH-Win64-Shipping 0x00007ffce27d0000 + 38c6
gameoverlayrenderer64 0x00007ffce2e70000 + 8c698
EOSOVH-Win64-Shipping 0x00007ffce27d0000 + 38c6
gameoverlayrenderer64 0x00007ffce2e70000 + 8c698

More info. I have a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
I had another UE4 game Ranch Simulator that also crashes on startup. And it has the same thing with the gameoverlayrenderer64 and stack overflow. I talked to their devs on discord, but they had no clue and I refunded the game. I turned off everything like steam overlay and nvidia overlay. But the issue stays.

All my drivers and windows are uptodate.
Also very weird in the Nvidia Geforce Experience application Medieval Dynasty does not show up anymore for some reason, pretty sure it was in the list of games.

I am even about to simply buy a newer graphics card as more and more games I want to play don't work anymore? Or is there any thing else going on with these UE4 games?
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Wow thanks. I removed and installed epic games launcher and the game starts again. I could never have guessed that epic game launcher had anything to do with this.

Many thanks and I hope also other people are helped with this rather simple but not so obvious solution!
