Maybe both of you should verify files to make sure the patch got installed correctly (right click Medieval Dynasty in the list of games in your Steam library, pick 'installed files' and then 'verify integrity of game files')
What you could also try is loading the savegame solo, then saving it again to make sure it's also in the new version, then reload the savegame and only then invite your friend.
Normally, if you get a connection timeout, it's most likely a network issue, either on your end or at your friend.
Or EOS or steam services could be down - EOS was having issues this morning (around 10 - 11 am CET).
Is it even possible to uninstall a patch? It is a bit too much of a coincidence that the problem was introduced immediately after we had each updated the installation.
But it is possible that installing the patch screwed some setting up in your or your friends case. Antivirus software sometimes doesn't instantly recognize the game's new 'fingerprint' and might automatically block something now. I've also seen Geforce Experience from Nvidea sometimes mess with some game settings it shouldn't touch if the game is set there to auto-optimize.
Could you try uninstalling the game from Steam (both of you) and re-installing it? Every now and then something goes wrong with the installation of a patch that verify files can't seem to fix.
If that doesn't help; also try the following:
- change to DX11 ingame : settings - graphics - rendering mode - DX11 (Don't forget to accept changes at the bottom)
- try changing the windowed mode ingame to fullscreen windowed: <escape> - settings - graphics - Window mode - Windowed fullscreen
- make sure that your antivirus/firewall isn't blocking any game files or anything from EOS
As a test; can your friend try if he can start a new game on the Oxbow in co-op mode? (No one has to join; it's just to see if the problem might be with connecting to EOS).
Sadly it's not possible to uninstall a patch. There might be different versions of the game on Steam which you can pick from (in the beta settings), but that's only when the devs make them available.
Found a workaround to the earlier bugs, by changing the hosting PC; i.e., moving the the save files from one PC to the other.
But now the game is almost unplayable. Fetching water from the well, if you are the client in a co-op game, is guaranteed to result in a freeze and you have to exit and re-join the game.
It would be very useful to be able to remove a patch, as these recent patches have been introducing so many more bugs!
