Medieval Dynasty won't start
Medieval Dynasty won't start.
Game has been purchased, downloaded/installed. When I try to start the game, it looks like it's loading for a moment, but then nothing happens. I tried starting the game directly in the Steam account, same thing. I click play, it seems to load briefly, but then the play button appears again and nothing happens.
What's going on there? I have a new gaming PC (Acer Nitro 5), so that can't be the problem.
Thank you very much for help!

Then I tried it directly through the .exe in the folder, it reported that XAPOFX1_5.dll and D3COMPILER_43.dll were missing. Then I downloaded the two dlls, inserted them into the system and: NOW IT WORKS! Thank you very much!
I don't understand, why this problems occurs, i bought this Laptop two days ago and everything is fresh and updated. But whatever, it works, and this is the main important thing!

Hey there!
Oftentimes when something like this happens it is either caused by a missing or damaged runtime (Visual C++ or DirectX) or your anti-virus or firewall is blocking the game from starting.

The latter can be avoided by whitelisting Steam and the game exe or starting Steam in admin mode. No need to turn off either your firewall or anti-virus software.

DirectX can be repaired, often it helps to check for Windows updates or use DISM and sfc /scannow to check the existing one.

Visual C++ comes in several different versions. A full package can be downloaded from Microsoft. If you already have versions installed and want to deinstall them to make room for a fresh installation, please make sure to restart your PC after each one.

Start it directly through the medieval_dynasty.exe, just to see what error message it gives.
It'll probably be about a missing .dll like Goldi says.
Can you let us know what error message you get?
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Y, no clue why it was not automatically included in your windows installation. You are definitely not alone: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1129580/discussions/7/4038104984915603399/#c4038104984915848519

So maybe it depends on the windows version or something? Glad it got fixed though!

I'm glad to hear it's working for you now. Thank you for letting us know and sharing what worked. This may help others as well. :)

I would still recommend sfc /scannow and DISM. Those are part of your Windows installation and they check for damaged system files. They can often repair them right away.

This is how they work: https://www.howtogeek.com/222532/how-to-repair-corrupted-windows-system-files-with-the-sfc-and-dism-commands/

The game just sucks in loading, i still not know why, but this failure happens again and again and again. And no there are NO Problems with Windows or whatever. Its just the game, a few hours ago i played without any issues. Shutdown comp, start a few hours later, game not correct loading.

Before Oxbow u could just start the game a second time, this second start always works correct and instant loads (showing clearly there is no problem with windows, or something). But has no access to Steam cloud. no problem in the old version (Maybe except for Steam achievements) . But now u need access to steam cloud. for playing Oxbow map , otherwise u need to start a new Char and get a bugged game.

So this means u need to fix the loading error by it. And here is the main point why its simply wrong, the game Files are broken or Windows not working right: U just need to wait, the game needs up to 15 minutes until it loads and work. For all this time the Task Manager says, the Exe doesnt react, there is no loading on the Harddisk and no use of much Ram, means there is mostly a problem with getting information about Steam cloud or loading something external.

Hate to say it, but there seems to be an issue with your pc/installation.
Try uninstalling the game from Steam completely and re-installing it.
Also check and fix any errors in your windows installation by running DISM and Sfc/scannow.
Make sure you update the drivers in your graphics card.
And maybe start Steam as administrator to see if that makes a difference.

Could you upload your dxdiag report so the more technical people can take a look?https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-and-run-dxdiag-exe-dad7792c-2ad5-f6cd-5a37-bf92228dfd85

To upload it, just use a site like wetransfer.com to create a link for you that you can paste here (no need to make an account on wetransfer, just click the 'i just want to send files' link.)
