You're right. I hadn't considered that, it would be an issue.

the dress itself does not nessesairely have to be an issue..
many man in history went to war in skirts.. (while less protective of the crown jewels, it offers MORE movement)

it all boils down to the design of the dress.. how long is the skirt of it.. and in what spots is it tight and loose.. it all boils down to how much it helps or hinders free movement..
->
even when it does hinder free movement.. one could still fight in one.. just less effectively due reach comprimised)

A skirt and a dress are completely different. The dresses, in this game, go past your ankles. The skirts men wore in battle rarely went past the knees and were not connected to the top which could restrict movement.

Ahh so you want female clothes so the game is more realistic but then want to hunt in those same clothes. I will let you figure out the irony.

bold of you to assume i want to hunt in a dress. i want to work in the kitchen, herbalist hut or fields in my nice cotton dress.

Just don't wear your party dress hunting, otherwise, why not wear a dress. Even in the late 1800s women were wearing dresses everywhere, doing everything from climbing mountains to the dirtiest of work. It's there to see in old photos.

The real issue is to never have anything but Racimer's left overs for female characters shows how little effort went in to adding female characters to the game. Feels like it was done under duress and so got the least amount of care, but hey, there they are. Live with it.

I would like to have the option to make sexy lingerie to wear when wooing my husband. As it is now when asking him for a child he just looks at me with a dumb stare on his face as if he made a mistake by marrying me.

Yes, the clothing is already there, but the NPC's don't run, crouch, hunt, ride a horse or wash themselves for example, so those animations would have to be added because we as players do do those things.
That's not how it works... that's not how any of it works...
clothing is just wrapped over the rig, attached to it and moves with it. That's why you always see clipping and weird stretching when the devs did a bad job designing the clothing. It's also how it's so easy for modders to make custom clothes mods for games (look at FF14 mods for example) if the clothing already exists in game, they just have to add code to allow players to use/make it.
which is what baffles me to no end why games with female NPCs come out with only male playable characters (like Sengoku Dynasty) I mean, let's be real... all these "Dynasty" games are the same game copy/pasted with different skins and a different map.

Thanks for correcting me! My bad for assuming otherwise, you learn something new every day.

And you're right, Dev's have no excuse now!

Not correct. They are all made by different dev teams from scratch, the mechanics differ, and in a different engine as well.
The general idea behind it might be the same; but that doesn't make it a reskin.

Yeah, considering the amount of wub-a-lubba-dub-dub's and Kamehameha's i get in town, realism isn't the point, the point is, people would like to clothe their female companions with things they have either made or bought, fancy dresses could even be gifts for prospective partners etc. don't just dismiss someones idea because of your singular view of the game.

Yeah, all you need to do is play Sengoku Dynasty for a bit to see how different they are. They don't really feel remotely like the same game. Sure the core gameplay loop is reminiscent, but the specifics are very different from top to bottom.

+1 I don't want to run around with trousers. Give us some nice female clothing! :yawp:

You do know that women definitely did go hunting in dresses like... since forever... right? Like dresses used to be made ...... you know what, I'll just... leave this here...

https://racingnelliebly.com/fashion-forward/female-mountaineers-wore-petticoats/ *

*(Corsets are referred to as "restrictive" in the linked article and that is the stigma about them, however that is actually an extremely modern concept and in the 1800s corsets were not that at all, but thats a whole other rant. The point is, most modern assumptions about women's clothes pre-1940s or so is... just wildly wrong, honestly.)

And to be clear, I don't even LIKE dresses myself, but I DO like sharing information and clearing up misinformation! Plus I get exhausted every time I hear people saying you can't do <insert activity here> in a dress, because they're just wrong. /shrug

I really hope they add this. Sure I'd change to trousers when I go hunting (for my own realism), but I hate not being able to wear dresses like the other women in town. The dresses are so pretty too, I want one.

No, indigo did not exist in Europe in the early middle ages, and other forms of blue dye did just slowly appear in Europe in the 12th century.
It is said, that there wasn't even a word for blue in the early middle age europe.
