the dress itself does not nessesairely have to be an issue..
many man in history went to war in skirts.. (while less protective of the crown jewels, it offers MORE movement)
it all boils down to the design of the dress.. how long is the skirt of it.. and in what spots is it tight and loose.. it all boils down to how much it helps or hinders free movement..
->
even when it does hinder free movement.. one could still fight in one.. just less effectively due reach comprimised)
bold of you to assume i want to hunt in a dress. i want to work in the kitchen, herbalist hut or fields in my nice cotton dress.
The real issue is to never have anything but Racimer's left overs for female characters shows how little effort went in to adding female characters to the game. Feels like it was done under duress and so got the least amount of care, but hey, there they are. Live with it.
clothing is just wrapped over the rig, attached to it and moves with it. That's why you always see clipping and weird stretching when the devs did a bad job designing the clothing. It's also how it's so easy for modders to make custom clothes mods for games (look at FF14 mods for example) if the clothing already exists in game, they just have to add code to allow players to use/make it.
which is what baffles me to no end why games with female NPCs come out with only male playable characters (like Sengoku Dynasty) I mean, let's be real... all these "Dynasty" games are the same game copy/pasted with different skins and a different map.
And you're right, Dev's have no excuse now!
The general idea behind it might be the same; but that doesn't make it a reskin.
Yeah, all you need to do is play Sengoku Dynasty for a bit to see how different they are. They don't really feel remotely like the same game. Sure the core gameplay loop is reminiscent, but the specifics are very different from top to bottom.
You do know that women definitely did go hunting in dresses like... since forever... right? Like dresses used to be made ...... you know what, I'll just... leave this here...

*(Corsets are referred to as "restrictive" in the linked article and that is the stigma about them, however that is actually an extremely modern concept and in the 1800s corsets were not that at all, but thats a whole other rant. The point is, most modern assumptions about women's clothes pre-1940s or so is... just wildly wrong, honestly.)
And to be clear, I don't even LIKE dresses myself, but I DO like sharing information and clearing up misinformation! Plus I get exhausted every time I hear people saying you can't do <insert activity here> in a dress, because they're just wrong. /shrug
No, indigo did not exist in Europe in the early middle ages, and other forms of blue dye did just slowly appear in Europe in the 12th century.
It is said, that there wasn't even a word for blue in the early middle age europe.
