It seems to depend a lot on the game type, because I haven't noticed anything. However, it has happened before that after an update, using workstations in a certain way led to a freeze.
The new Steam feature lets you automatically record x minutes of your games in the background; so that when you do get stuck, you can easily make a clip of it and post it here.
As for the unstuck button not working; that's indeed an issue in the testing branch and the devs are aware so I'm sure it'll be fixed in the next patch.
Rule of thumb: Testing branch is less stable than the live version, as its goal is to find bugs like these before the patch goes live. So gamebreaking bugs that make you lose progress can happen. Always keep a backup of your savegame before entering the testing branch and keep in mind that progress made during the testing can be lost.
Edit: After I´m done with patching. ^^
Edit: Sorry Morri, i guess my save broke after the update, I´m not able to load it, i can only hear humming noises, as if i had problems with my headset. (Testbranch)
Edit: Got it to work after a few reloads and i was able to crounch my way out of it, i guess i was stuck between the ground and a invisible "thingy".
