Are washtubs broken or am I just dense?

So I tossed out a few wash tubs around my settlement, and they were all empty upon doing so. I just figured that's how they were supposed to be since the update. I will mention though that placing one in my old save still had them appearing completely filled and never emptying. I decided to start a new game shortly after playing my old save to tweak some settings as I had super long seasons, and pretty much all stats set to not effect my character.) Anywho, I saw that I needed a bucket of water, so I went in search of a merchant who might sell buckets to find none. This lead me to being a miscreant and stealing a bucket from my dudes in Gostovia. Get back to the settlement, fill the bucket up with water, carry it to the tub, but for the life of me my ill gotten bucket either isn't allowing me to fill the tub, or there's just a bug with them in general. Has anyone else had this issue, or is there some hidden tub filling technique that I'm just not keen on? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance.

You have to fill them now, yes. The positive aspect of this is that you can use empty tubs as decoration, as well as filled tubs.

Falibor in Borowo sells buckets, if next you want to buy one.

Filling a stolen empty bucket with water should just turn it into a not stolen bucket of water. Did that not happen? Does it still show as red? The tub needs three or four buckets to be full, as far as I remember.

Yeah, the bucket still shows as red even after filling it up. I'll go buy one from Falibor and see if that makes a difference or not and report back, because as of six attempts to fill a tub it remains empty lol.

I'll test it and ask. Last we checked the stolen bucket just turned into a water bucket when filled. They might have changed that.

So I bought the bucket, I got it all nice and filled with water, and went up to the was tub, held down e, the tub remained empty and the bucket remained full. I even tried left and right clicking to see if 'e' was the incorrect option with no luck. Out of curiosity, is the item name in the inventory supposed to change from bucket to bucket of water if it's filled? If so, then that's not happening for me.

For me just now as well. I know that there is one "Bucket of Water" in Hornica. It contains 0/10 for some reason and cannot be used for anything, really. But those in Gostovia seem fine on my end.

Yes. It is supposed to change. You need to see the option and press and hold E to fill it.

Sound like a personal bug in my game then. The bucket is not changing over to bucket of water, it remains listed as bucket. All good though, I was thinking of starting a fresh game for the 5th time anyway lol.

Are you sure that you are filling it correctly? In quickslot, active, you look at the water, see the option to hold "E" to fill it, do so, see the complete animation, "Bucket" gets removed from your inventory "Bucket of Water" gets added. Those are the steps.

Also, try to verify your gamefiles with steam, just in case.

Yeah the animation would finish, the bucket wouldn't be removed from my inventory though, and my character was still holding the bucket but it was filled with water.

That's strange indeed. Do verify your gamefiles and double check if none are blocked by your anti-virus or firewall. If that doesn't help, would you mind sharing your savefile? It could just be an isolated incident, but taking a look can't hurt.

Okay.... well it worked once.. When I went to refill the bucket to do it once more I'm back to having the same issue. Where do I go to send you my save file?

That's very strange. Have you checked your anti-virus and firewall? If it works once after validating and suddenly stops working, they might have blocked or quarantined gamefiles. This can lead to odd problems.

Either upload it on WeTransfer or another platform you trust and post the link here or send me a message on Discord.

Do you know where to find your savefiles?
