cold weather clothing
I'm wearing every winter clothing item but can't ride without freezing. Is there an item I missed at the seamster or merchant?

What is your Cold Protection percentage?

In med game when you still can only wear the basic winter clothes I found I will freeze after midnight. I carry torches to stop this. Once you are get one item of the "wool" level winter gear to go with your newb winter gear you will be fine. Warm hat will do.

eat soup, carry torches, put points into temperature (Survival Skill - Insensitive)

Other than that, go to a Clothes salesman and look through their wares, any time the 'cold tolerance' number goes green, the item you are looking at is better than what you are wearing

Yay! My cold percentage was 63 and I couldn't ride my horse without freezing. I made a "rich hood" and my cold % is now 80% and I can ride without freezing to death! Thanks, so much, for the suggestions that led me to the solution. I usually find what I need here...

Well, it sounds like you have a solution, Tristan...what is it?

I dont, wear hot and cold clothes. If you put armour on in the Winter, you will freeze, Summer, you will roast. Best this i can say, if you have a mount, keep your armour in their. dismount, 'E' the mount, grab the armour, switch all your gear and fight. then back to normal clothing

Yup, I keep my armor in the saddlebag and do exactly that! But I usually withdraw a bit to give me some space to don the armor.

Intolerance 3/3 and consuming Plum Wine helps with wearing your armor in the winter (and of course, your damage). I usually preemptively consume a potion of healing, before engaging as well.

For winter, my "normal clothing" is the "Excellent" padded armor set, since it has such a high cold resist to go with its damage reduction (and that's the season I have the most time to bandit hunt). But normally, I'm in the "Noble" clothes with the rest stored on the horse (as was mentioned).

"Winter clothing" is not the best clothes for winter, despite the name. Items like "Excellent tunic" (sorry, don't know the exact english name) have better protection against cold.

Also don't forget to equip one item in every slot. For example the "winter clothes" set doesn't have a collar item IIRC, even though they exist.

Devs probably should have renamed winter clothing to basic winter clothing or put it in tab that says basic or some such equivalent. They did it with excellent but guess they just figured we'd suss it out or read their minds. Plus at night you are supposed to be asleep in the winter so past midnight is a nonissue. There is no real benefit to working 24/7. Winter is a time of rest and recuperation, a time of mending and sitting by the fire telling stories. Hard for our modern brains to compute.
