How are you supposed to get farming xp starting out?
You get farming xp by farming but you cant farm without fertilizer which you make in a barn which you cant make until you get farming xp?

Just lay down fields and grub them with hoes. Rinse and repeat.

You need very little farming xp to get the barn; so just preparing a field as far as you can without fertilizer, should get you there already.

You can also buy a bit of fertilizer to get you started until you have the barn.

This. Craft some easy items to sell or hunt a few animals and sell the meat. You can get some funds pretty easily early on to buy some fertilizer.

Yepp first thing I did before traveling to the spot I wanted to start, buying 10 cabbage seed, 10 fertilizer and 2 leather so I could put down a cabbage field right in the first spring.
Also build a compost and threw a lot of berries in that.
The field gave enough points to unlock the barn, wich I built in summer and using the rot from the berries made enough fertilizer to have a 20 tiles cabbage field in summer.

I also make sure I grow enough cabbages for compost bins - they generate the most rot for fertiliser whilst your village is small

Lot of the early stuff you want to do you have to buy from vendors like fertilizers. If you eventually get a barn you can buy manure which is cheaper than fertilizer and convert it into fertilizer. And if you get farm animals you get manure free. Just kind of the price to pay. Circular resourcing comes in later. You can say this game is heavily about your business acumen.
