As for the rest of your post... I dunno. I thoroughly enjoy the game, even if I don't have those decorative items. I don't think juice bottles or vases were actually ever intended to be used as decorations, just items to sell.
You want the items to ignore each other as if they weren't there? What would it look like if you filled a basket with apples?

I'm really not a natural and not nearly as good as Rose, but you can learn a bit if you want to. And basically, absolutely any item from the inventory can be used as a decoration. Some lay out their floor in patterns with ingots. Yes, sometimes a small mishap can ruin an elaborate decoration. It's better to start small and not take on too much.
The screenshots and artwork are full of great ideas and so are Rose's videos.
A bottle always stands perfectly if you drop it individually on a flat floor. If you then lift it straight up, you can place it well. Once it has fallen, carefully move the mouse in a circle until the bottle hangs in front of you like a vertical line, with the base of the bottle facing you and the neck of the bottle pointing backwards. Then carefully pull the mouse forward from behind to lift the bottle upright. Or take it into your inventory and use variant 1.
