Help with resource use from boxes!!!

Me and a friend are playing im the host my mate built her own house and she can craft from her box in her house but I built my own house and nothing is being taken from my box??? why is this, what am I meant to do?? how do I get my crafting and buildings to take from my box as well??

The population is saying population of 1 in our camp and not 2 even though there is 2 of us and we claimed a house each?

The crafting area must be in a specified (dependant on level of storage) range of a Resource/Food storage..... I suppose the house as well...... The buildings in range will be indicated next to your tool equipped durability (just walk close to a storage and you will see it)

If you are not close enough to the storage building you want to use resources from, you can't do it and will need to get the materials in your own inventory yourself like we used to before this update.

So this is only based on the storage building not the chests in the little houses?? the chests were working for my mate at first and now they're not

In my testing, I have found that it will draw it from the storage chest in the building you are crafting at, no Resource Storage building required. It cannot draw from multiple building storage bin without the Resource Storage Building

Ye we crafted the storage building and not having the issue anymore, the only issue we are having now is one of us not being recognised in the town it says we have 5 workers 1 of us and 4 NPC's lol

Did the other person assign themselves a house? Otherwise they won't be recognized as part of your village. 4th paragraph in the pinned post explains how to do it: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1129580/discussions/0/4027970580223615280/

Yes they did, I watched someone say about each person needs to assign themselves a house and they said they have to build their own house or it wont recognise them so I built mine solo and they built theirs solo, but still only recognises one of us, we have NPC's in the village now too its fine with them but not with my friend. At first when we were building she was putting stuff in her houses storage and it was taking from her houses storage, but when I did that it never worked like that for me, we then restarted and that stopped working, we built the storage shed and everything was fine after that with the storage problem, but still didn't say 2 people in our clan only 1, the number only went up when we got NPC's in the village. Maybe its a bug I don't know

Who builds the house is not important.
Can you ask your her to try again assigning herself to an empty house? That last part is important, that no one else is assigned to that house already, not another player and no npc either.
If she has done it correctly, she should be visible in the list.

We did this, we built new houses and assigned ourselves to them as you cant upgrade the houses, so we built new wooden ones and assigned ourselves to them they were new houses with no NPC's attached to them

Did she keep the E key to assign pressed long enough? Short tap won't assign, you have to keep holding it.
Alternatively, she can go to the list of houses in the management screen, select an empty one, and then pick "assign to player" at the bottom. Does that work?

Yes, we each have a house with our own names on the houses so we are assigned to them, we tried swapping houses and making new ones and all of that too.

- the players do not show up in the list of villagers, that's normal
- the players should count towards the population (once they have a house)
- the players do not count towards the amount of workers

To make sure we are talking about the same thing, could you share a screenshot when both of you are online:
- of the management screen where it shows the population
- of the list of villagers
- of the inhabitants of your house and your co-players house

You can upload them in artwork on Steam as well.
