Villager Couples/Families
I just started pairing up my villagers for breeding purposes and have realized its very hard to keep track of who is with who and in what Houses each of them live in.
Is there a Tab or section I'm missing that has that Info?

The only thing I can think of is renaming each house with it's occupants names.
That or writing all that info in a Excel file or something.

As my Village gets bigger I have a feeling it is going to get difficult to wrangle all my Subjects.

You can walk up to a house and press E on the signboard. This will tell you who lives there and what they do, but not whether they are married or not.

It is a shame we can't zoom in on the map in Management. Nevertheless I have been able to use the map in the buildings tab to work out which house is which, and double-clicking a house or selecting and pressing F will tell you who lives there.

To see whether a childless pair living together are married or not, you need to remember the name of one of them, go into the people tab and check from there, where it will show you the person's family. Really, there ought to be an easier way of checking, but I don't know of one.

I'm sorry to say I have only the vaguest idea who most of my villagers are, even though most of them have lived in the same house and had the same job for years. I moved my goose keeper into the new house I built by the goose shed. His wife is the shepherdess, and the sheep aren't too far away, so that works out fine. Really I should have put my field worker into the new house I erected right opposite the farm shed, but I don't expect to add to my fields for a very long time and he always finishes all his tasks with time to spare from where he lives at the moment, so I think I'll just leave him where he is (wherever that is - I haven't checked). The only other person I might move is my master blacksmith, since I have a house right by the forge, but I haven't yet got round to building fences in that part of the village and I haven't decided whether to incorporate the forge into the house yard, or make a path from the village square to the forge between the houses.

I haven't really thought about renaming houses in my current game. In another game I gave them descriptions based on their locations.

I marry my people to their coworkers. So i build a kitchen, and put a man and women in there, make sure they are living together, rename their house (push H to do this) something like Cook's Croft II, Smith's Shanty IV, Lumberjack's Lodge III. This way, I see who i need a partner for and where they will work easily
I label mine like Joe+Imelda+2F adding on the end part when they have kids or if single their name and age. I can look at the housing list and see what's up, kinda. It is a bit of a struggle that I'm not sure a spreadsheet will help with that much for me.

Here at yr 25 just figuring out which kids will marry other kids in the village for the next 25 years. ATM 24 kiddies from 19 to 1 that need hooking up for 12 couples. Only one female will need to be found 8 yrs from now as it stands. I took a ten year hiatus from adding villagers and it shows in the births. Hard to control the "output" perfectly. That will bring me to my next heir hitting 18 or so. Lord only knows how I will keep track of it after that due to deaths, births, house sizes, etc., but even these wee creatures have some pretty nice starting stats even at gen 1.:medidynasty_fox:

Wait, do your villagers die?

I'm on year 6 on both of my current playthroughs, and have never really gone past this. I think a few years ago i had a short season playthrough get to year 10, but that might have just been ambition.
Indeed the villagers age out and die as do the npc's in other villages. It's why I have to figure out how to be sure some of the older ones don't give birth too late in life, die and have their kids disappear with them. iirc I think kids have to get to 14 in order not to die if their one remaining parent bites it. I now move Mom and Dad to a small house to live out their days and maybe have one more kid. Not sure how old Mothers have to be to stop having babies but it's probably 50ish so there's quite a bit of time for them to keep adding to the village. LOL those baby outbreaks can be disruptive.

Racimer got a pass and he and his sweetie got a big house and have just had their 2nd post heir baby and since he and his beloved are under 40 they will probably be fine.

I usually name the house by profession. If only one person is moved in, then the profession and the desired age of the partner - this makes it easier for me to find a couple of the right age. For example: Farmer 23-25, Master 20-22. If two villagers are already moved in, then the professions are hyphenated: Farmer-Master. If they are married, then I change the hyphen to a plus: Farmer + Master. If they are expecting a child, then I add another plus at the end (sometimes I add the season when they will give birth): Farmer + Master + spring. After the birth, I can add a note of who was born - a boy or a girl: Farmer + Master + g. On work buildings, I usually write the names of the villagers working there.

Is it possible for them to just co-habitate forever?

takes about a year, and they have to be within 10 years of eachother.
Between seasons it will tell you all the marriages, pregnancies and births.
In a person's profile page it will tell you if they have a spouse or kids
Also, if you attempt to evict or move a married person, a popup occurs telling you about their family.

Once a year (sometimes more often) in spring I go through all the houses in management. The main aim is to form a pair (per year) between 25-30 years old. I sort the houses beforehand according to the number of residents.

- First I see how many free houses I have.

- Then I look at all those living alone. Widowers and widows are paired off to make room and stay happy. If I find a suitable couple here, that's also done. But at the moment I have plenty of men living alone and not enough women. For everything else, I'll keep in mind that I'm looking for a young, marriageable woman.

- Then I'll look at all 2/x. That way I have an overview of how many couples will have children in the next few years. There are also senior citizens in this group and widows with their children. If it is foreseeable that an NPC will not live to see their child reach the age of 18, a new, younger partner will definitely be added here.

- Then I look at 3/x, first for the sake of an overview. If I find a suitable marriageable woman here, I think about whether the parents will still have children when the bed becomes available. (I decide flexibly, for example based on the stats, whether I want to do this. 10s are welcome to have another child).

- Then I look at 4/x, maybe I'll find a suitable woman here. If there are 4/4 living in a house, I check whether a child can move out. Either with the next spouse or in a house of their own. This way, I make sure that siblings don't accidentally block a large house together for the rest of their lives. Again, you also need to consider whether the parents will have any more children. (This is not usually the case for me, because couples don't usually get married until they are around 30).

If I still haven't found a suitable wife, families swap houses. For example, an older couple with only one child moves into a 3-bed house and a young couple with one child and very good statistics moves into the big house. But sometimes I also marry younger couples.

The measures are therefore flexible, depending on the current situation. Very rarely, if a couple has a big age difference and therefore doesn't get married for a long time and if I happen to have more suitable partners in the meantime, I change a pairing. Otherwise, my part is done and the rest is RNG.

This is definitely a task, but it works perfectly for me without an additional list, naming houses or anything like that. (Well, my houses are named, but that has nothing to do with it.) One couple per year + a few families with a large house and two children works very well for me in the long term.

What I would like to see is that when I double-click on a person within the houses, I would then be taken to their entry in the list of people. There you would also see whether they are married, what their statistics are and so on. Unfortunately, this does not happen. You get to the list of people, but somehow randomly and not to the person you want.

If you click on the inhabitant of a house, and you pick 'open details' at the bottom, it'll show you the management screen of that specific person.

Double clicking will not work, as that indicates you try to replace the inhabitant with someone else, so it'll show you the list of all other people.

Just one correction. Your character has to be within 10 years of a potential mate, but the villagers can be up to 20. The larger the gap between ages, the longer it will take them to decide to hook up, however. I think I waited for 13 years to get Georgiana and Amerigo to hook up.

Couples/Family Management is overly complicated. Farm/Field Management is easier. LOL.

I now have all my villagers paired up with appropriate age differences and their Houses listed with the names of the occupants. That's about the best I can do atm.
Just waiting for the magic to happen.

I did that once early village I made, matched up a bunch of villagers and they all waited and suddenly I had over 50% of the females pg at the exact same time. It was impossible. Now no one gets a mate till the last one shacked up together gets preggers. At least then only a few are out at a time. Well, unless you put them in big houses then they all wait and have the second kids at the exact same time. Hard to control output...:steamdeadpan:
